Original and traditional Americana and Old-Time music.

Biography

Last Transit is an eclectic duo that performs original and traditional Americana, Bluegrass, and Old-time music. Beth Mosko plays fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Marke Foxworthy plays banjo, guitar, and dobro. The addition of bassist Lisa Burns and mandolin/guitarist Richard Burkett provides a 3-4-piece sound when desired.

On Labor Day of 2004 Beth and Marke challenged each other to a 24-hour picking marathon. Not only did the duo survive this endeavor, but has also practiced, performed, and recorded together ever since…

This passion for playing music is immediately evident to listeners. Marke’s rhythmic yet melodic banjo style, Beth’s sweet sense of melody can be heard in their writing as well as during a performance. The diverse talent of these two musicians shines brightest through their unique compositions radiating humor, solemnity, urgency, simple song, and class. Last Transit’s underlying fervor has deep roots within the individuals’ personalities. At the tender age of twenty, Marke heard John Hartford’s Aereoplain album and bought a banjo the very next day. A classically trained violinist, once Beth got a taste of fiddle music she left her chair in the symphony without looking back.

Last Transit has been interviewed and featured on Wayne Rice's radio show the "Bluegrass Special" on KSON, and featured on KRFC's "Live at Lunch" show. Beth and Marke have also performed at various bluegrass festivals and venues across the western U.S., opening for the James King Band and Ricky Skaggs. Beth has appeared as a guest artist with Sidesaddle & Co. at the Grass Valley Father’s Day Weekend Bluegrass Festival and opened for David Parmley and Continental Divide. Marke won first place in the 1994 Julian Bluegrass Festival banjo/fiddle contest, and his composition “My Way Home” is featured in the widely distributed Mel Bay Banjo Anthology book.

Last Transist released their debut CD, “Treasure Chest”, on March 31st, 2006. More information including performance dates can be found at www.lasttranist.com.
