"Listen to this song and be impressed."

LNHRR's "Release the Reigns" has a great production behind them, great lyrics, a rocking drum beat and a genre crossing feel to it that I haven't heard before. I can honestly say that I was very surprised by the melodic treatment and the professionalism that accompanied this band -they truly rock. Mixing punk rock, arena rock and a unbelievably perfect bassline, this song is one that needs to be heard much more than it is. Listen to this song and be impressed. "Hooligans Pull Together"

Coming home to celebrate their debut release, "Pull Yourself Together," are members of the band Late Night Hooligan Riff Raff. Guitarist Drew Scott Noffsinger, bassist Ryan Carney, both of St. Charles, and drummer Ben Thompson of Michigan recently were featured in Bands on the Verge by Relix.
"This blending of genres creates a funkadelic rock 'n' roll explosion," wrote the magazine of the trio's disc.
Noffsinger, who now lives in Berwyn, explains their hard-to-pigeonhole sound.
"I'm the campfire folky Neil Young, Tom Petty kiind of (influence)," he said.
"Ryan has his classical degree (a master's) in upright bass. He likes Metallica as far as rock 'n' roll. Our drummer has a jazz background.
"I pretty much do the writing," he said. "Everyone throws in their opinions. We definately collaborate. I kind of lay down the blueprint and everyone pitches their ideas."
The band will play a favorite St. Charles haunt, which owner Steve Chapman has rebranded as Chord On Blues Riverside Roadhouse to embrace more diverse musical genre. A soft opening has been under way as the new format is put in place.
"Thursday is ladies night with a DJ, and Friday and Saturdays are set aside for live bands; we're open Tuesday through Saturday," Chapman said noting pool tables will be added this spring to the venue the Blues Foundation named "Blues Club of the year" in 2006.
Noffsinger focused on his songwriting after encouragement from Bonie Raitt, as well as the late Merl Saunders, with shom he toured: "Merl pulled me aside and said, 'I like your original songs, there is a reason Dylan never did covers.'"

"A Great Songwriter"

Bonnie Raitt- "Drew Scott is a great songwriter." - Bonnie Raitt

"Motivated and talented"

Merl Saunders- "Drew Scott is a motivated and talented songwriter, that is why he tours with me." - Merl Saunders

"This blending of genres results in a funkadelic rock ‘n’ roll explosion."

After more than a decade spent sharing stages with greats such as the late Merl Saunders, Drew Scott (guitar and vocals) has written more songs than could fill a jukebox. "Merl pulled me aside and said, ‘I like your original songs. There is a reason Dylan never did covers,'” says Scott. Steering clear of the acoustic guitar-strumming singer/songwriter stereotype, Scott joined up with Ben Thompson (drums, vocals) and Ryan Carney (bass, vocals), and formed the Late Night Hooligan Riff Raff. The musicians all hail from different musical niches: “Ryan has more of an Alice in Chains sound and Ben’s drumming is more jazzy-electro,” says Scott. This blending of genres results in a funkadelic rock ‘n’ roll explosion on their debut release, Pull Yourself Together. The songs speak of living life to the fullest without the cheese, as Scott punches out lyrics over a heavy bass. Concerts are full of frenzied guitar solos, inspiring the crowd to dance. With a sound that combines Zappa and the Disco Biscuits with hard '90s rock, says Scott, “Our shows get a mix of the jamband crowd and blue-collar guys with motorcycles. In the end, they all leave sweaty and smiley.”
