Part sound system, part South American orchestra, but ultimately genre-defying, the Latin Dub Sound System incorporates Latin percussion, house-driven melodies, dub beats, uplifting vocals, flamenco guitars, Mambo horns and rap.

Fronted by renowned UK producer/mixer The Sea, Latin Dub is a result of combined loves of reggae and latin music. With extensive production and music direction credits, and having run sound systems and worked in studios in London and Jamaica, this project is the fruition of 20 years of first hand experience of sound system culture and dance music production.

The band is a collection of London based musicians of all ages and nationalities with many eclectic listening and playing styles. The band also features a fluid array of guest singers and MCs, including artists Rodney P, Ska Cubano, Yungun, Eva Abraham, Million Dan and Benjamin Zephaniah.

Launched with an acoustic set at Momos in February 2007, and two secret shows at Favela Feva and The Vortex, a busy summer schedule followed including shows at Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, Paradise Gardens and most recently the opening night of the 2008 La Linea festival at Koko’s.

The result is an energetically seductive blend of traditional and modern styles of live and electronic music, infused with a carnival spirit that is winning over audiences wherever they play. The excitement on stage transmits directly to the crowd, and has resulted in a rapid rise over the last 12 months.

The Latin Dub Sound System’s first EP is set for release in April 2008.
