Bio

Born in the current capital of hip-hop, Atlanta Georgia, Laty D is an artist armed with uncanny lyricism and determined to show and prove in a city popularized by the infectious 'trap' melodies saturating the genre. Quietly honing his sound under the BornDreamers Productions banner, he's preparing to drop his debut project 'Faults of The Groom' and the short-film prologue accompanying the project, 'At Fault'.

Growing up between two parents and two different cities, Atlanta and Philly, Laty D was afforded the opportunity  to be exposed to artists between the two. As you listen to songs of Laty D one can hear the intertwined styles with a southern smoothness to tie it all together. He explains, "Music was the one constant growing up wherever I was; so when I was in Philly, it was a lot DMX and the Ruff Ryders and everything Roc-A-Fella. And when I was back in Atlanta, OutKast was ruling the world and Tip and Jeezy were just getting started. I just happened to be in the right places when the waves were moving in music."

After truly devoting himself to creating music along side group-mate/producer AV under the group 'Unsung 1's' in 09, they went on to release two mixtapes 'Greencard' in 2010 and 'Girlfriends on
February 15th' the following year. They went on to win and headline events and showcases held by different promoters throughout the city such as the 'Unsigned Hype' showcase and several 'Tru Entertainment' events. At the height of the success of the group, UnSung 1s performed alongside their BDP family to put on their largest show yet. The concert was held July 4, 2011 and even though it rained the place was still packed. After the concert there were several series of  events both with the BDP family and personally that caused Laty D to take time away from music altogether. During this time he was focused on determining the bigger picture and where he would go from here.

"For a couple of years I didn't write anything. There was definitely a change happening. When I did start writing again, things came out deeper, darker, bolder, and I knew in order to get the what I wanted to say out, the way I wanted to, I had to try it solo."

His upcoming project, "Faults of a The Groom", is a culmination of the thoughts, decisions, and indeed, faults leading up to this very moment. "I spent a lot of time listening and studying my favorite song-writers, and composers from all genres. I kind of wanted to reprogram the way I approached making music altogether or at least see it from different views. The project boasts  BDP producers such as Fr23sh, Morgenburg, and Av; so it was easy to get across my thoughts for the sound. I wanted to focus on being human and imperfect and being well aware of it, and still saying f-you, it is what it is at end of it all."

The songs that are being created are the most vivid and bold they've ever been in life." '88.5' is a weirdly perfect combination of night-time slow-burner and a head-bobbing rant to his peers. There's a push and pull of emotions on tracks like 'Snakes' and 'Blue September' and the fortune-telling aptly titled 'Premonition(Leonardo DiCaprio is My Best Friend)' bounces right into it all.

Laty D is currently preparing his short-film "At Fault", a sample of the view he wants give listeners. "I always wanted to do something like MJ did with 'Thriller' and 'Bad'. I want to make the video a big deal again." The passion is there on "FOTG (FAULTS of THE GROOM)". He believes everything he's saying positive, negative or otherwise; even when the knife is turned in his direction. Qualities like this, his wordplay, and knack for melody are what will make Laty D a magnet to a broad spectrum of fans of music in general.
