Laura & Bruno

We are "Laura and Bruno". We are an acoustic indie/pop duo originally from the small coastal town of Port Macquarie however we now live and play in Sydney.

We began playing together in May 2011, originally with no intention of forming a band. We both just had a genuine love for music and thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out and creating music together. We started out playing covers but very quickly found our own creative persona and began writing our own music.

We are inspired by a very large range of genres and artists however the music of Sarah Blasko, Angus and Julia Stone, Lior, Florence and the Machine, Noah and the whale, Jeff Buckley and Foster the people have been particularly influential on our musical style.

There are a couple of things that we believe set us aside from other bands; Firstly we are the best of friends and have so much admiration and respect for each other both musically and personally, We think this contributes to our musical chemistry. Secondly we think our use of various rare instruments makes us unique. Our regular instruments are an acoustic guitar (Bruno) and an Autoharp (Laura) and we share the vocals. But we frequently use a range of other instruments including the charango, accordian and ukulele. We believe this gives us a really quirky edge and if nothing else, keeps us amused.

We play at various venues around Sydney and we are excited to be recording our EP at the amazing "Studios 301" in August! We are driven by our creativity and mutual love for music and not by the idea of success. We hope to be creating music and continuing to evolve for many years to come.
