Laura Bailey

Band Comedy Cabaret

The best kept secret in music

This band has no press

Still working on that hot first release.

Laura is a performer who has been improvising for many years, and singing all her life, so the chance to do both at the same time is a dream come true! She debuted Unplanned Melody at the 2012 Big City Improv Festival, and has since performed it at Comedy Bar, the Black Swan, and as part of Opening Night Theatre’s musical improv night Augusta Wind. The show’s most memorable performance may have been at Sage Tyrtle’s True Stories, Made Up Plays.

Laura is the co-creater/host/producer of the hit live variety show CHICKA BOOM. She has performed at the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, and competed in the top three in last summer’s Top Sketch Canada series. She is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory in Toronto, and the Annoyance Theatre and iO Theatre intensive improvisation programs in Chicago. She has also studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City. This year Laura will make her feature film debut in the improvised movie Quitter (Spirit Guide Entertainment’s Weekenders Series).

Laura is also an experienced vocalist who has sung in semi-professional choirs for almost 20 years, including the U of T MacMillan Singers and the Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir. When not working as a disgruntled admin assistant (that part is definitely true) she also offers services as a singing teacher, which she hopes to do full time one day. She specializes in people who have never sung before, so contact her if that’s you!
