It's something you've never heard before. It's original and emotional it's raw and it's voulnerable. It makes people laugh and it makes them cry. It's real.

Biography

Laura Clare is a 22 year old singer/songwriter from Tasmania, Australia. Laura was around creativity from the moment she was born. Both her parents are working artists, her father is a potter and mother a painter. Laura began busking (street performing) at the Salamanca Market in Hobart when she was just 7 years old and by the age of 14 she wrote her own songs. In 2007 Laura was chosen as a contestant on the hit reality T.V. show Big Brother where she was in the house for four weeks. While on the show she sang and wrote quirky tunes to keep the audience and herself amused. After getting evicted from the show, Laura fell into a destructive lifestyle, that included an arrest for assaulting a police officer. In 2008 Laura travelled the world, drinking her way through thirteen countries and writing songs from her experience. While visiting Florence, Italy, Laura suffered a seizure induced by alcohol, then travelled to America to enter an alcohol rehab facility for six months. After her discharge from rehab, Laura recorded a demo (which in her words is "vulnerable and raw") about her struggle with alcohol. "A Year Ago" was written in Laura's drinking days (originally a very dim song). After rehab she rewrote and recorded the song with her now more positive outlook on life. The song "Darlin' Girl" was written about her relationship with her father, knowing he would always be there to pick up the pieces. "Smile" is a song about coming out of the fog and realizing that everything will be okay.

Lyrics

It's about time.

Written By: Laura Clare

V1
Give me a line,
And I’ll write you a song,
Give me the time,
And I’ll sing it too long,

V2
Give me a rose,
And I’ll give you a kiss,
Give me your heart
And I’ll give you my lips,

Chorus
It's about time I take what is mine
Instead of being fed just another line
It's about time I give what I want
Instead of always giving all that I got.

V3
Give me hug,
And I’ll cook you a meal,
Give me you love,
And I’ll tell you how I feel.

Give me no lies,
And I’ll give you my heart,
Give me wings to fly,
And we’ll never part.

Chorus
Its about time I take what is mine
Instead of being fed just another line
It’s about time I give what I want
Instead of always giving all that I got.

Bridge
We’ll talk like old friends,
We’ll drink red wine,
Well have passion in our 80’s
Like it was our first time.

V4
Now I've got what is mine
I wrote my song instead of just a one line.
I finally got what I want
And I didn’t have to give all that I got…

Fate

Written By: Laura Clare

I started thinking what would happen in two years time
Then I think about the two that I left behind

Can I save myself from what’s to come?
Or has my fate decided its own storyline
Could I of saved myself two years ago id love to know

I turn off the alarm for the sixth time
And I'm still lying here
My head is so cloudy
On a day that is so damn clear

Can I save myself from what’s to come?
Or has my fate decided its own storyline
Could I of saved myself two years ago, I’d love to know

running from my future
my past will follow
scared of what’s behind me
afraid of tomorrow

cos frustration leads to breakdown, leads hopeless leads to breakdown and around again,
and if frustration leads to breakdown leads to hopeless leads to breakdown it all ends in pain.

Can I save myself from what’s to come?
Or has my fate decided its own storyline
Could I of saved myself two years ago, I’d love to know…

Darlin' Girl

Written By: Laura Clare

V1
She cries for the pain of other people,
takes on their hurt so they don't feel it,
then she locks it inside of her heart,
until she cries for all of their hurt.

V2
Lying in bed with wet hair from crying,
he comes and wipes the tears from her face,
then he tells her: 'it'll be alright darlin' girl.'

CHORUS
Then he takes the tears,
falling from her eyes,
and gives them back,
to the rain in the skies,
then asks god, asks god, please,
don't let her cry.

V3
She has a heart that she won't use,
to shield it from being abused,
she can't trust but can be trusted,
she can't love herself but she can love others.

BRIDGE
she leans on the people she can't trust,
and ends up leaving her loves for lust.

CHORUS
Then he takes the tears,
falling from her eyes,
and gives them back,
to the rain in the skies,
then asks god, asks god, please,
don't let her cry.

V4
She doesn't mean to let him down,
everytime she falls down.
he still cares and says his prayers,
and hopes that god cares.

CHORUS
Then he takes the tears,
falling from her eyes,
and gives them back,
to the rain in the skies,
then asks god, asks god, please,
don't let her cry.
