Bio
Laura Darrell began singing professionally at age 9 in the classical genre before she transitioned into musical theatre and pop in her adolescence. She sang with the Portland Symphony Orchestra when she was 13 and was discovered by Producer Con Fullam who produced her Christmas Album which earned her a N.E. Emmy nomination after her concert debuted on PBS.
Mad Mad Me, her recent EP, documents Laura's journey of musical self-discovery as she creates an emo pop sound combining classical strings with modern rhythms. Produced by Mad Attic records, it charts her passion for provocative, hauntingly angelic melodies as well as fun, upbeat show-off belt numbers.
Her influences range from Deanna Durbin and Judy Garland to Eva Cassidy, Shawn Colvin, and even Basia. Her band is comprised of talented, young musicians with a passion for thought provoking music. Backed by guitar, cello (strings), piano, and background vocals, Laura Darrell is supported by the best.
Therefore, because of her unique journey through all sorts of musical genres, Laura Darrell is a unique combination of all of them, and her fans range from all walks of life. She is a melting pot of hopes, joys, ambitions, and emotions and she looks forward to her growth in years to come!
