Bio

Singer-songwriter Laura Dodd's passion for music developed at an early age. Grounded in a capella singing, the Gadsden, Alabama native demonstrates a highly original sound that is a unique blend of traditional front porch country with a dash of blues and bluegrass infused with subtle hints of jazz.

Laura recently had the honor of being named 2010's New Artist of the Year at the 16th annual Inspirational Country Music Awards held at Trinity City in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

This highly talented musician has shared the stage with such major performers as Rascal Flatts, Patty Loveless, Bruce Hornsby, Josh Turner, and Ben Vereen. Most recently Laura opened for the legendary George Jones at Center Stage Entertainment in Rainbow City, Alabama and also for Travis Tritt at the same venue. In August, she had the pleasure of opening for Jeff Cook, of country super group Alabama fame. During ICM awards kick off week she opened for Cross Country the Band and Buddy Jewel. She has had the opportunity to work with Dr. Johnny Lee Cook, comedian, and inspirational country singer. Their duet, "I Don't Wanna Cry" is scheduled for release in January 2011.

Her rendition of Sam Gay and Scott & Carolyn Parker's "Wow" reached number 54 on the Music Row charts without the benefit of major label promotion.

Laura is currently featured in the film "The Goal," showcasing her acting abilities and performing her song "Where Eagles Fear," co-written by Keith Perry.

Laura also lends her talent to a multitude of worthy causes. Her single "Songbird" is the theme song of the film "Dandy Kids," a documentary about children living with Dandy Walker Syndrome. her performance on Capitol Hill helped raise Congressional awareness of this disease.
