Folk to feed the soul.

Biography

Laura Imhoff first picked up a guitar several years ago and since then has taught herself to play with a unique style. Her style of playing is energetic and uplifting; a mixture of Ani DiFranco and local artist, Ryan Montbleau. But nothing compares to the voice of Laura Imhoff, a voice with soul, some say that it sounds like Joss Stone, Norah Jones, with a flare of Stevie Wonder.
She grew up on a small farm in Massachusetts and now lives in the city of Boston. Along with playing her guitar and singing her heart out, she is a student at The Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. Laura began playing out at the Capo’s open mic in Lowell, MA, which led to opening new doors in her music career. Since then she has played at many small venues.
Music is a large part of her life. She uses music as an outlet; this is quite recognizable in her lyrics. They are full of emotion and feeling and are influenced by the people and what is going on in her own life. And more importantly, she loves nothing more then to share that love with the people that surround her.

Lyrics

Hippie Gangsters

Written By: Laura Imhoff

They've got their bags packed, they're ready to leave. Their four wheeled horse is armed, it's packed, it's fueled, and it's ready. Now, they're riding into the day glo sunset. They're riding, they're driving, they're flying due west.

They are the many faces of Jack Kerouac. The reverse version of Ken Kesey and the Merry Prangsters, his merry merry men. The are the future hippie gangsters of 2010.

They've got a long journey ahead, and what a crazy trip it will be. They've got a whole world out there they have yet to see. Because where they're comming from they're ready to set the record straight at approximately four-nineteen. Just the wrong decade, the wrong generation. They're just getting their feet wet with ideas of self expression and peaceful liberation.

They are the many faces of Jack Kerouac. The reverse version of Ken Kesey and the Merry Prangsters, his merry merry men. The are the future hippie gangsters of 2010.

So they're riding, they're driving, they're flying out of the norms of society. Spreading their wings breaking through the barriers of the bougiouse. And they're questioning those of authority and that in which they're told. Because they know the words of the wise don't always come from the lips of the old. And they're taking in what they can with every breath that they take just to open new doors. Learning from the experience like those that came before.

They are the many faces of Jack Kerouac. The reverse version of Ken Kesey and the Merry Prangsters, his merry merry men. The are the future hippie gangsters of 2010.

Set List

During her time on stage there is never a dull moment. Laura is capable of captivating an audience through out a two-hour set. Her originals range from blues to jazz to flamenco to folk and everything in between, even the handful of covers have their own little flare to keep listeners on their toes. Laura is as entertaining as can be as a one-woman band. Her style of playing the bass and percussion all with her one guitar is enough to get your head bobbing, and if that doesn’t do the trick then that voice of hers will certainly mesmerize you instead.
