Placing God in the forefront (Not just when she wants to give Him a shout out as part of her award acceptance speach) Laura J's level of creativity was set from the beginning. Immersed in the vocal genius of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, CeCe Winans and Mariah Carey, Laura was vigilantly driven into the world of music. Also, staying intune with other sounds of today, Laura keeps her ears inclined to the stylings of Mary J Blige, Natalie Grant, Natasha Bedingfield and India Irie.

Laura J may be just a name for some but for many she is making moves and impacting lives with her voice and songwriting ability. With the most innovative and intriguing blend of R&B, Soul and even contemporary influences in her music, you cannot help but listen when you hear her.
Writing her first song at the ripe age of 12 and singing with her "sister-like" cousin, Laura J's ability was over shadowed and often overlooked. But Laura has now revealed that which God had hidden for a short time and is burning with the passion of music that has been brewing in her soul.
Laura J stood strong as a finalist on KSat 12 "Gimme the Mike" and has taken that experience as one that was great and one that she will never forget.
Reaching for an exceeding platform to deliver a message of encouragement, change, reflection, even hardship and joy, Laura J has what it takes to make a difference in music and she will not stop until she gets to where she is going. This music will make you dance, laugh, cry and most of all make you feel again. Her ability to move a live crowd and abducting them into her world is only a small part of what to expect from this woman. She is a genuine breath of fresh air.
One thing is for sure, there is nobody doing it like Laura J. And that's all we can say about that.
Laura J released her debut EP Single titled "Freedom" in 2007 (Available on Itunes and Amazon.com) and is currently finishing the full legnth project due this Spring of 2008.
