“Cumbria born Laura James oozes talent. From her sublime acoustic guitar playing and gentle angelic vocals to her beautifully innocent lyrics that only come along with youth. Each song told a story and each word captured everybody there... this young singer/songwriter has the sweetest disposition on stage and you can't help but float along with her music. A truly captivating performance...” - Music Mafia UK

Bio

Cumbrian born Laura James has been writing and recording since the tender age of 15. She started out playing in the local pubs and clubs in Carlisle, and at the age of 18 moved to Liverpool to study music and performing arts.

Laura’s music leans heavily on the poetic side of folk and her ‘haunting’ vocal coupled with her sensitivity for lyrics and melody is a captivating combination.

In May 2012 Laura was presented with a Songwriting Award from The Musician’s Benevolent Fund for her song ‘Every Little Amber’. In the same month Laura had the opportunity of a mentoring session with Sir Paul McCartney, who described her music as ‘beautifully delicate’.

Laura’s first EP ‘The Bed of The Brook’ was released in July 2011 with her backing band ‘the lyres’ and was complete with a pop-up trailer-stage tour of the north-west, with much anticipation her second release is scheduled for April 2013.
