Bio

Born in Holland and raised literally across the globe, Laura Jansen is a woman of many worlds and an indie success story in the making.

After playing in bands across Europe and Asia in her teens, Laura earned a scholarship to The Berklee College of Music in Boston. Laura then moved to Nashville where she honed her songwriting craft with some of the best writers in town. When change called again, she packed up to Los Angeles and quickly became a part of the community of the famed Hotel Cafe - home to Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, Katy Perry and many more talented singer/songwriters. She found success with the release of her "Trauma" EP, from which she licensed songs to MTV's "The Real World" and "Newport Harbor," and she even had a song covered on "Canadian Idol."

In 2008, Laura took to the road. She performed in the summer as both a member of Joshua Radin's band and as an opener on his sold-out headlining tour. In addition, she made her first TV appearance with Josh on "Last Call with Carson Daly" and performed alongside Radin as the only two musical performers at Ellen Degeneres' wedding.

Soon after, Laura was offered a slot on the Hotel Cafe All Girls' Tour in the Fall alongside Ingrid Michaelson, Rachael Yamagata, and Erin McCarley. Upon returning from great acclaim at the SXSW Music Festival in 2009, Laura finished her second EP "Single Girls," a collection of five alternative pop songs with lush arrangements and intimate lyrics reflecting the thoughts and hopes of a girl in the world. It debuted at #25 on the U.S. iTunes Pop Charts.

Laura was then invited to The Netherlands for a series of performances. At the end of a whirwind week, she was signed to Universal Music Holland where her full length record entitled "Bells" (a compilation of new and old recordings) was met with overwhelming success, debuting at #12 on the Holland Pop Chart and #2 on iTunes. Her cover of the Kings of Leon "Use Somebody" has been in the airplay charts in The Netherlands for 18 weeks.

Laura has been touring extensively with a sold out solo club tour in Holland and as the support act and band member for William Fitzsimmons on his European tour. She is releasing her record in Germany and the UK in the spring of 2010. She is returning to Europe in April for a two month headlining tour and then diving back into the studio to complete her second record.
