I was never the girl who was just naturally good at everything, or one thing even. I spent my childhood living in the shadow of my gorgeous model sister, in the back-row of every dance routine, an extra in the school play, sweet but not bold, and always well-liked but not quite the popular girl. When I first started playing and writing music I wasn’t good at that either – but boy did I go for it all. From back-row dancer to national title holder, from extra to lead actress, the passion I got from my mom and the stubbornness I got from my dad whirled into this adventurous spirit of a girl – unafraid to be vulnerable, unafraid to fail, and unaffected by any voice telling me I’m not quite good enough. The words and melodies you’ll find here are the result of an honest girl writing to calm my heart, excite my heart and to express freedom in Jesus Christ. It is brings me great joy to share with you my diaries of traveling the sunny hills of Australia on nothing but a dime, jumping from couch to couch while recording my album in Nashville, falling in and out of love and in out of trouble, learning, growing and singing my little Carolina heart all the way out to Texas.
