Biography

Laura MacLean began her music career as a voice. Raised in Boston, she was classically trained- but this big voice was also welcomed in Rock bands and recording projects and she subsequentially found herself in New York. Jazz standards offered a new education and landed her work all over the world. Song-writing took MacLean's career to another level and an all-together different kind of performing. This year, she has returned from a three-month tour opening for kiwi legend Midge Marsden, in New Zealand. Radio stations played her EP on the air and she was well-received by the press and by New Zealand audiences of up to 11,000 people. MacLean performs regularly in New York and the New England area.

When To Let It Go

Written By: Laura MacLean

If I didn't love you, I would invite myself over- I would invite myself over if I didn't know you- then I wouldn't say that I love and I'd see a whole lot more of you if I didn't know you
I’d run you out for good
Just to see if I could
You’d be knocking down my door
You’d be lobbying for more
Chorus
Oh who’s the one who needs it most is who will run forever
I’ve been around enough to know when to let it go
If I didn’t reach you
You would wielding your wares
yeah, you wouldn’t be so damn scared
If I didn’t see you
Through all your battered charades- the mask was transparent to me I could see you
You got an auto-pilot role
The Trojan Marionette
From all the hearts you stole
Where does tragedy go next?
(chorus)
Now and then I think of you
Empty and alone
How to pay this deficit with my rubles and stones
(chorus)…if I didn’t love you

Prescription For Pain

Written By: Laura MacLean

A child stays at home; makes the life his own
He sees more clearly on the TV set and
His mother’s on the phone
The doctor tells her if she takes three daily, she’ll sleep much better
Oh, mix up your cope with the lines that prescribe your rescue
Witness the sun as it sets- it won’t blind you now, when
You spend all your days on delay- take your Medicine
And go through the haze you create in your regimen
It’s a prescription for pain
Get your prescription for pain.

A man is in his car
He rambles for the hour he spends each morning on the freeway rush-in
He’s reaching for the gold; he puts his wife on hold
She’s out shopping- one more twelve hour day
She stays in that great big house
He’ll be home late once again- it’s a big account
He’ll have time when the kids are grown, when
You spend all your days on delay- take your Medicine
And go through the haze you create in your regimen
It’s a prescription for pain
Get your prescription for pain.

Grandpa was an early riser
He made me breakfast in the morning
I saw his nature of survival
I knew that yellow stuff was something he was hiding
And he’d spend all his days on delay- take your Medicine
And go through the haze you create in your regimen when
(chorus) …
missing out- you’re missing out
It’s a prescription for pain
Get your prescription for pain
A new prescription for pain
Get your prescription for pain.

Does She Know

Written By: Laura MacLean& Steve Addabbo

She's a strange girl And everybody sees her in the same world, but no one wants to be her She's a strange girl- she doesn't make it easy She never tries to be like all the rest She doesn't know she's different as she buttons her own cigarette- she snubs the bottom line
chorus:
does she know something we don't A secret only she sees- the leading role in her own play Does she see something we don't- whats the mystery in a world of gold where we see gray. She's instinctive she doesn't need a leader- she's selective she'll take it or she'll leave it. Yeah she checks out while everybody's waiting She'd rather spend her days in reverie She' isn't pinned down easily she rolls like liquid mercury She makes a fool of time
(chorus)
If all our jaded walls go tumbling down- would we need them if we trust ourselves and trust eachother? Maybe it's that simple Maybe that's her secret
Yeah (chorus)It's a world of one in her own way A world of gold her own way
She's a strange girl...
