"LAURA MICHELLE GOES VIRAL WITH “CHUCK NORRIS”"

L.A. singer-songwriter Laura Michelle is set to land a musical knockout blow with her premiere single, “Chuck Norris,” a whimsical pop anthem about unleashing the Kung-Fu master that lies within us all. "Laura Michelle’s ‘Chuck Norris’ Blows Up on YouTube"

Even Chuck Norris would be impressed by this: In just four weeks, WeHo singer Laura Michelle’s new single “Chuck Norris” has surpassed 4 million views on YouTube.

The pop anthem about “unleashing the Kung-Fu master that lies within us all,” is the first song off of Michelle’s upcoming debut album “Novel with No End,” releasing spring 2013.

Michelle, 28, has lived in West Hollywood for six years.

“One of the things I like is the diversity of West Hollywood. For example, my street, it’s super quiet. The feel isn’t like being in the second largest city in the U.S. You know how there’s pockets in this city that feel like you aren’t actually really in the city, but yet I can go a street or two over and there’s tons to do. It’s like a party! You’re practically drinking cocktails in the street!”

Of the Sunset Strip music venues, Michelle has primarily played at the Whisky a Go Go and Viper Room.

“I remember the first time I played the Whisky,” she said. “I felt so responsible. When I think of all the legendary artists that have played there over the last 40-50 years … I wanted to make them proud. I wanted to walk in their badass shoes. It was an ‘if the walls could talk’ experience.”

"Carmen Electra, Ana Matronic, Alexis Jordan & Icona Pop To Headline Palm Springs White Party"

Adding to a long tradition of featuring top-level talent, four big acts have been booked to headline this year’s White Party in Palm Springs, California.

Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters will be one of the two acts at Saturday night’s main event, taking place yet again at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Known for her amazing stage presence and biting lyrics, the multi-talented Matronic will be making a solo return of sorts at this event. Emerging from the same downtown arts scene as 2009 White Party headliner Lady Gaga, Matronic will no doubt bring quite the performance to the desert affair.

Also headlining on Saturday is Roc Nation/Columbia Records singer Alexis Jordan, who returns with her new single, “Acid Rain.” Jordan headlined the White Party’s Sunday tea dance in 2011.

Carmen Electra marks her return to the music industry by headlining this year’s tea dance, where she’ll be performing her new single, “I Like It Loud.” For those who don’t remember, Electra began her career as one of Prince's musical protégés.

Joining Electra on Sunday are Swedish breakout stars Icona Pop, whose single “I Love It!” (feat. Charlie XCX) is currently tearing up dance floors across the world and is the theme song on MTV’s “Snooki & JWoww.” Also, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” stars Willam Belli and Detox will perform, along with their friend Vicky Vox.

This year’s festival takes place over Easter weekend, March 29–31. Other performers for the weekend include Kwanza Jones, Meital Dohan, Laura Michelle, and Albanian star Bleona. The weekend will be hosted by “Real Housewives Of Miami” star Adriana DeMoura.

The exciting DJ lineup for the weekend includes Peter Rauhofer, Rosabel, Tony Moran, Paulo & Jackinsky, Wayne G, Manny Lehman, Andy Almighty, Casey Alva, Danny Verde, Pornstar, Dave & Gerardo, Dani Toro, Grind, Ryan Kenney, and more.

Says White Party producer Jeffrey Sanker, “For each event I’ve tried to re-envision and re-imagine every element and detail, from the entertainment, to the music, to the most cutting-edge sound and lighting, advanced special effects, and full-surround LED video walls.”

Past headliners at the White Party in recent years have included Mary J. Blige, Ke$ha, Robyn, Jennifer Lopez, and Gaga. This year’s event is described as, “The biggest international lineup of DJs ever assembled for the largest gay dance music festival weekend in the world.” - Yahoo! Music News

She soon formed a band that began performing original songs across Southern California and up the California coast. After meeting Producer Jarrett Zellea, Laura began writing her debut album. Songs include smart rockers and poignant ballads such as the title track "Novel With No End," a tribute to her late father, who died when Laura was 15.

Commenting on the songs success and her upcoming appearance at the White Party in Palm Springs Laura said, "To say I’m ecstatic would be an understatement and performing for Jeffrey Sanker where so many other great artists like Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga and Ke$ha have come before me is such an honor!” - WeHo News

"White Party wraps up with record attendance, global profile"

(**FYI: There are a lot of great photos of Laura Michelle on this website that the newspaper took.)

PALM SPRINGS — The annual party noted for breaking acts like Lady Gaga and bringing thousands of gay men to our backyard wrapped up Sunday with record attendance, filled hotels and closing night performances by Icona Pop, Carmen Electra and pop artist of the weekend Carly Rae Jepsen at White Party Park behind host Renaissance Hotel.

“It’s awesome; I love it,” said Cruz Garcia, at his first White Party. “Yesterday we dressed up as bunnies for Easter and everybody was taking pictures of us at the main event.”

“White Party was originally designed to be a weekend getaway for the L.A. boys,” event producer Jeffrey Sanker said Sunday afternoon. “I guess the word got out about what a welcoming and beautiful city of Palm Springs is … because we now have attendees from every corner of the globe.”

Last year’s event boasted a headliner performance by Mary J. Blige at the event’s signature party. This year’s signature event Saturday at the Palm Springs Convention Center went a little smaller with Scissor Sister Ana Matronic and former “America’s Got Talent” contestant Alexis Jordan.

A highlight of Saturday’s party was interviews conducted on the White Carpet by Jaymes Vaughan of “The Amazing Race” and the great Madame, the puppet queen of the White Party, who also made an appearance with Carmen Electra on “Access Hollywood Live” over the weekend.

Colby Melvin, who is an official party dancer along with his friend Brandon Brown, both from Los Angeles, said that while Saturday’s events lived up to expectations it’s Sunday’s T-Dance that really completes the party.

“It’s my first White Party. Last night’s performances were amazing ... the lights, the entire show, I think. But the biggest part of the weekend is the performances at T-Dance,” he said.

“I’ve been to a few. It’s bigger and better every year,” Brown said. “The last time I came was three years ago, and it’s probably 20 percent bigger than it was then. So it really grows.”

Now in its 24th year, the White Party is one of the city’s biggest tourism draws. It generates over a million dollars in occupancy tax for the city of Palm Springs, according to Sanker. New hotels like Skylark and 1-year-old favorite Saguaro, although not host locations, were filled.

“Skylark is a new property so this is our first White Party and the feedback has been wonderful. We’ve been sold out for some time,” said the hotel’s director of marketing Reggie Cameron. “We had women at our pool party Saturday. It’s nice to see everybody play well together and that’s something I saw even at the festivities.”

Skylark hosted a few of its own poolside White Party-inspired events as did Saguaro.

“It’s a great event for city itself. Our hotel was sold out all weekend and our restaurants were full,” said Michael von Wittenau, director of sales and marketing for Saguaro. “We did have an event. It’s the second time we’ve had it with a production company out of Los Angeles and it gives an alternative for people that perhaps didn’t have an opportunity to go to White Party events … it’s not one of the official events but it was something different.”

Attendance at last year’s White Party set a record. While figures have yet to be confirmed for this year’s gay dance and music festival, Sanker believes it drew even more party goers.

“Last year we had over 30,000 attendees over the course of the weekend,” Sanker said. “So far, we are ahead of last year.”

Sunday afternoon ended with a three-song, poolside performance by YouTube breakout artist Laura Michelle. Carmen Electra, Icona Pop and Carly Rae Jepsen performed at Sunday night’s circus-themed T-Dance.

Police noted no extraordinary issues during the White Party, according to Sgt. William Hutchinson of Palm Springs Police Department.

“Just business as usual,” he said. A more detailed report will be available in a few days. - My Desert.com

A proud prankster herself, Laura co-conceived the video’s concept, which features her at the roller rink, jogging along the shore and navigating Hollywood Boulevard dressed as Snow White.

The new single and album was executive produced by two-time Grammy winner Jarrett Zellea (Luther Vandross, Santana, Jay-Z). Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Shakira) co-produced and co-wrote several tracks with Laura. Multi-Grammy-winner Rafa Sardina engineered and mixed, while a stellar group of musicians played with Laura on the new album, including guitarist/pianist Jim McGorman, drummer Mark Slutsky (Pink, Grace Potter, Kylie Minogue) and bassist Jon Button (Roger Daltrey, Sheryl Crow, Shakira).

Following the release of the album, Laura and her band are set to launch a string of California concert dates, with more to come later in the spring and summer.

Says Laura of her core message, "Music was my best friend growing up; it was a shoulder to cry on when things were tough. It was someone who, no matter what my mood was or what was going on in my life, seemed to understand me completely. If my music can be that for someone else; if it can help them feel they aren't alone in their feelings, whether they are sad, happy, angry, or whatever...then I'm happy!"

If my music can be that for someone else; if it can help them feel they aren't alone in their feelings, whether they are sad, happy, angry, or whatever...then I'm happy!"

"Singer-Songwriter Laura Michelle Makes Recording Debut with New Single, "Chuck Norris""

L.A. singer-songwriter Laura Michelle is set to land a musical knockout blow with her premiere single, "Chuck Norris," a whimsical pop anthem about unleashing the Kung-Fu master that lies within us all. Co-written by Laura and Writer-Producer Jim McGorman, the single "Chuck Norris" is available now on iTunes - the first song off of Laura’s upcoming debut album, "Novel with No End," releasing spring 2013.

The music video skyrocketed past one million YouTube views in its first week. Co-directed by Kurt Zendzian and Max Moraga and shot at iconic L.A. locales such as Hollywood Boulevard and the beaches of Santa Monica, the video is a witty commentary on the song’s central message of self-acceptance.

A native of Danville, a suburb in the East Bay of Northern CA, Laura started singing before she could walk, delved into recording when she got to high school, and began writing her own music when she moved to LA post grad.

"Is Laura Michelle’s ‘Chuck Norris’ the Next Big Thing?"

By Rick Andreoli

Last week, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Laura Michelle released the video for her premiere single, “Chuck Norris.” It’s a whimsical pop anthem about unleashing the Kung-Fu master that lies within us all, being able to say and do the things you want when the time strikes– not later, when the pressure is off.

Since its release, the music video (posted above) has registered more than one million YouTube views. The song was co-written by Michelle and writer-producer Jim McGorman, and the video was co-directed by Kurt Zendzian and Max Moraga.

The buzz is currently pretty hot, and it makes sense. The new single and album was executive produced by two-time Grammy winner Jarrett Zellea (Luther Vandross, Santana, Jay-Z). Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Shakira) co-produced and co-wrote several tracks with Laura. Multi-Grammy-winnerRafa Sardina engineered and mixed, while a stellar group of musicians played with Laura on the new album, including guitarist/pianist Jim McGorman, drummer Mark Slutsky (Pink, Grace Potter, Kylie Minogue) and bassist Jon Button (Roger Daltrey, Sheryl Crow, Shakira).

But as with all things in this fickle entertainment industry, the question remains: Will “Chuck Norris” be the spark that sets Michelle’s career on fire, or just fizzle out with a cloud of sulfur?

Honestly, we’re kind of loving Laura Michelle right now. But check out the video above and let us know what you think. You can find more info on her at www.lauramichelle.com, and “Like” her on Facebook http://tinyurl.com/9wche8f. - First to Know

Bio

Between the leaf-blowers, hovering helicopters and endless drone of traffic, Los Angeles can be a noisy place. Somehow, Laura Michelle tunes it out.

Wherever she goes music is with her, a new song always gestating in her mind. Now, the gestating is over. Meet Laura Michelle, an L.A. singer-songwriter utterly without pretense, as her debut CD Novel With No End proves.

To create the album, Laura enlisted the aid of two-time Grammy winner Jarrett Zellea (Luther Vandross, Santana, Jay-Z) to serve as Executive Producer. Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Shakira) co-produced several tracks as well as co-wrote songs with Laura. Multi-Grammy-winner Rafa Sardina engineered and mixed.

Also backing her, guitarist/keyboardist Jim McGorman, drummer Mark Slutsky (Pink, Grace Potter, Kylie Minogue) and bassist Jon Button (Roger Daltrey, Sheryl Crow, Shakira). Its a winning team, with Laura Michelle always front and center.

Included is the premiere single/video Chuck Norris, a whimsical rocker about unleashing the Kung-Fu Master within. Its very much my personality, says Laura.

The rest of the album runs the gamut, from smart rock to poignant ballads, each track allowing Laura to pull from deep within. Case in point, the title track Novel With No End, a tribute to her father, who passed away when Laura was only 15. Music was our thing even though he couldnt carry a tune.  My mom says my dad couldnt sing his way out of a paper bag.  He loved and admired that I am very musical as its a skill he never possessed, she remembers. His death shaped who I am.

Its no accident that her music connects the present with her past. Laura views her life and music as joined together on a single journey.

Born in Michigan, Laura grew up in Danville, a sleepy suburb east of San Francisco. She remembers spending a lot of time in the family car while her mother shepherded the kids to school and sports practice.

Thats where she first discovered the joys of music, thanks to show tunes and Disney soundtracks. My mom had to come up with ways to entertain us, Laura recalls. I loved everything Disney!  I memorized the soundtracks of Aladdin and The Lion King, and eventually Broadway shows such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Laura also appeared in childrens theater productions of Annie, where she got her first stage experience.

As a teen she loved artists like Nelly Furtado, NSYNCCeline Dion, and Pink. Over time she realized she had both the talent and the will to create music of her own. For me, music is an outlet, Laura says. With my dad being sick I spent a lot of my childhood and teenage years in the hospital.  I didnt know how things were going to play out with my dad being so ill, and music really got me through some tough times.

She took the plunge, moved to Los Angeles and formed a band that played up and down the coast. It didnt take long to attract interest from professional management, and by 2012 she was writing and recording the new album.

Laura admits she is a world-class prankster, and brings a boisterous sense of humor to everything she does. But her voice and her music reveal an edgy rock sensibility close to the surface.

Her pathway to make it happen is music.

I really believe when someone is going through a tough time, music can lift their spirits, Laura says. If I can help someone else, and they realize it's OK to feel the way they do, that it helps them feel a bit better, then I'm happy. I do know music can change who you are.

The novel continues.
