Bio
Laura Reznek is a Vancouver based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Originally a classically trained violinist, she discovered the love of music early on in life. Her piano based music draws from every genre she has heard and loved to create a sound that is uniquely hers. It is loosely jazz-based, with classical elements and a hint old-timey folk. As a child she loved stories, and quickly realized it didn't matter that she had no talent for writing them in novel form, she could tell them through song. Her music speaks of stories she makes up for inspiration, be it about birds, faeries, or treasures you discover hidden in your attic.
In January 2013 Laura released her first solo album, ‘How Strange to Find You Here’. Her idea for the album was to have a raw and honest sound to it, using only piano and layers of her voice as the only instruments. The album was produced by Jordan Esau and is the second project they collaborated on, having released Laura’s first EP, ‘Red Trains and Paper Cranes’ in 2010. Laura will be touring ‘How
Strange to Find You Here’ from July to October of 2013, passing through cities from British Columbia to
Ontario.
At the moment, she is working with her band to record their first full band EP. The Laura Reznek Band includes drummer Jordan Esau and bassist Michael Tarves, and together they have begun making their mark on the Vancouver scene.
