"REVIEW: LAUREN BIRD – GOODBYE, GOOD LUCK"

Goodbye, Good Luck by Lauren Bird is an enchanting no hard feelings break up song told with folk stylings and a pop music kick.

Bird’s is an exquisite voice, both delicate and strong lilting in and out and over bouncy ukulele riffs. Harmonically and lyrically this track is picture-perfect and utterly charming. Noelle Ellis, GiggingNI - Gigging NI

"Who You Need To Be Listening To: Lauren Bird"

Tumblr has become a great place to discover new music, connect with musicians who make that music, and for musicians to connect with their fans. I had been following Lauren Bird on Tumblr for some time before she released her debut EP in early May. It was very amazing to witness, virtually at least, the hard work and time she put into the brilliant EP. The northern Ireland native, who is in her early twenties, has managed to reach people all across the world with her honest lyrics and amazing personality. The phenomenal 6-track EP consists of the most relatable lyrics I have heard; lyrics about anxiety, love and heartbreak, and the everyday struggles of being alive. What Lauren Bird does so well is bring honesty to every song she writes and sings. I will have these songs on repeat for the foreseeable future and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this amazingly talented and hardworking musician. - Unsigned & Unleashed

"THIS IRISH GIRL’S SONG WILL STRIKE A CHORD WITH WOMEN EVERYWHERE"

One Irish singer is striking a chord with people around the country this week with the release of her first single.

Lauren McGeough – otherwise known as Lauren Bird – from Strabane in Co. Tyrone launched her debut single earlier this week, and there’s a good few of us here at Her HQ that can certainly relate to the lyrics!

We bet it will be stuck in your head for the day! - Her.ie

"Lauren Bird - Goodbye, Good Luck"

It's very rare on The Metaphorical Boat for us to cover a song that we've featured fairly recently in the past, but in this case, we're more than happy to make an exception.

Back in December last year, we came across Strabane singer-songwriter and ukulele enthusiast Lauren Bird after she performed two songs in a competition a friend of the blog was taking part in. She completely won us over both with her beautiful take on "No Surprises" and the self-penned "Goodbye, Good Luck".

And in the intervening period, she's gone on to win over even more people. In February, she was crowned the winner of Chordblossom's Kickstart competition (the same competition that boosted the career of Soak in her formative days), and in the past few months she's played several festivals, as well as being asked to support Hannah In The Wars on their Irish dates. She's also managed to find the time to compose the soundtrack for a feature-length film due for release next year.

And to cap off a great year so far, she's just released a new single, which is a updated version of the song that made us fall in love with her in the first place. A tale of learning to love being on your own, "Goodbye, Good Luck" has been given a slightly poppier upgrade from the earlier version, with added hand claps and other additional studio bobbinses, although the ukulele still remains at the heart of the track.

It's lovely to hear a fresh version of the song that made Lauren Bird grab our attention. Hopefully now it will now grab the attention of even more people. - The Metaphorical Boat

"STREAM: LAUREN BIRD – ‘GOODBYE, GOOD LUCK’"

We are over the moon to finally reveal the end product of our Kickstart 2015 competition; the new single from Lauren Bird, ‘Goodbye, Good Luck‘. Lauren left us spell bound throughout the competition so it fantastic to see her hard work pay off.

Despite the cheery ukulele sounds and sporadic hand claps, it is an honest and heartfelt song that sums up her knack for songs dealing in heartbreak and anxiety. - Chordblossom

Bio

With her self-titled debut EP scoring the number one spot on the acoustic Bandcamp chart and winning Chordblossom's Kickstart 2015, Lauren Bird is just beginning to take her place on the music scene. The singer-songwriter from Tyrone brings a sweet, slightly awkward charm to the stage whilst singing songs about the trials and tribulations of being 23. Laura Benitez from Unsigned & Unleashed writes, "The Northern Ireland native has managed to reach people all across the world with her honest lyrics and amazing personality. The phenomenal 6-track EP consists of the most relatable lyrics I have heard; lyrics about anxiety, love and heartbreak, and the everyday struggles of being alive. What Lauren Bird does so well is bring honesty to every song she writes and sings."
