The darling of all badasses, Lauren O’Brien is punk cabaret – with dashes of poetry and spices of comedy - for the new millennium! She is “fierce, fearless, and a force to be reckoned with,” according to MPress international recording artist Rachael Sage. Lauren is constantly evolving. starting out as an actress, becoming a lyricist for the rock band PAO (featuring Janice Robinson and Emmy winner Fred Shehadi), fronting a band in the vein of Patti Smith, then writing and performing acoustic rock. Lauren has played festivals such as NYC’s CMJ, Howl! Fest, MEANY Fest, The Seaside Music Festival, The NY Funny Songs Festival, and The Joys of Hemp Festival, as well as toured throughout the United States and Canada. Her first two studio albums,*Inconsequential Dream* & *Panic*, earned her two New Century Music Awards. Lauren got together with Mitch Distefano to create *The Devil’s Girlfriend*. Some say this album sounds like a love affair between Amanda Palmer and The Pixies. Others hear Lene Lovich flirting with Charlie Chaplin. Lauren is an ethical vegetarian and a hardcore Buddhist... and that sometimes finds its way into her songs.
