Lauren has been writing unconventional songs in hopes of inspiring new faith into old poletiks. Believe in the song, believe in the soul.

Biography

The audience, most performers will concur, is the most important part of a live show. As a performing artist, it is a primary responsibility to keep the audience interested, intrigued, and entertained. This is something that Lauren never takes for granted. "I like to make the crowd laugh", says Lauren in a recent interview with herself. "When you can make people laugh, you connect with them; they will trust you a little more and listen a little closer to the music. And of course it's an easy way to make sure that they are having a good time, which is the ultimate goal."

Lauren stops at nothing to achieve that goal. Whether its a dance routine, a drinking game funded by her bar tab, dressing drag, or just a little stand up, Lauren is on a mission to be fearless both onstage, and with songwriting. "I don't like following rules, conventional structures," Lauren tells herself. "I like to feel the pulse of each song, let it lead its own life, damnit."

The songs benifit greatly from this approach, and the result is a truly unique sound that is hard to describe. Alternative pop (or alternate pop, as her dad likes to say) is the appointed genre, combining her influences of blues, jazz, latin, hip hop, rock, dance and pop. The best thing to do is just listen!

Although Lauren may come off as a good-time Charlie onstage, (it was recently suggested at a gig that she try her hand at professional comedy), she is a trained and serious musical contender. After a childhood full of music classes, Lauren attended Etobicoke School of the Arts for high school and the Harris Institute of the Arts (production and audio engineering) for college. She is currently studying voice with acclaimed instructor Orville Heyn, acting with holistic-guru Crescence Krueger, and dance through various classes. Her growth will be apparent on her first release, an EP due early this summer. Armed with her record and a new car, Lauren will work to take this release to the furthest stretches of Canada and the States. It is only a matter of time before Lauren has real people interviewing her, but then again, that wouldn't be so funny.

Lyrics

Slow and Steadily

Written By: Lauren Eyton-Jones

I've got my mind on one boy
I don't know how long it will last that
I'm affected so fully
Caught up in the sides of his smile
When he smiles I'm totally
Curling up with the slide of his mouth
Turning me up slow and steadily
I tried to hold
oh but now I'm

Wanting somebody
Though knowing it can't happen this time just
Wanting somebody
Not doing it cause the time isn't right

Cause I don't even fully have my heart back
There's strings still attatched to a love I just left
Though I'm sure and my heart is set
I have to be careful when trying to forget
And I can't even talk for him
Though I think I may know just what he's been thinking
Since we could really be true friends
I have to be careful not to break this situation by

Wanting somebody
I know that it can't happen this time but I'm
Wanting somebody
Not doing it cause the time isn't right

Tonight he's meeting someone
I don't know how long it will last until
I have to turn away from
Watching them grow closer as they dance
This whole situation blessed and cursed by the circumstance
Still so perfect just to know you and
Its been coming up to my chance just to be

Wanting somebody
I know that it can't happen this time but I'm
Wanting somebody
Not doing it cause the time isn't right

Wanting somebody
I know that it can't happen this time but I'm
Wanting somebody
Not going for you cause the time isn't right
time isn't right

Time isn't right
Not going for you cause my
time isn't right
Not going for you cause your
time isn't right
Not going for you just cause the
time isn't right

Only Wanting

Written By: Lauren Eyton-Jones

Downloading off only you
Wanting only you
Dreaming only you want to want me only

Hold me close so that there is no room
For anyone but us two
And the sun shining bright at us to bloom

I wanna get up right in next to you
Though on and on I will stand strong
Cause I wanna bend up right against the rules
And pretend that ends aren’t coming
Oh I know better

Well I just go and I dive right in
I can’t get away from
Only wanting you, only wanting you
I don’t want to do it again
Love lies in the beginning
It’s just going to end

And I wanna get up right in next to you
Though on and on I will stand strong
Cause I wanna bend up right against the rules
And pretend that ends aren’t coming but
Oh I know better

Than to be
Only wanting you
Only wanting you

A Little Bit Wrecked

Written By: Lauren Eyton-Jones

Lay down for me now honey won’t you lay down for me?
The room is spinning faster baby, it’s getting hard to see
It’s Thursday night you know
The cool new night to be out
And we rocked it
and now there’s just four more hours to sleep

And I’m a little bit wrecked
Yeah I’m a little bit wrecked

Here comes the alarm clock, fuck no it cannot be
I’m somehow gonna have to sober up real quickly
Gotta look professional
Gotta scrub this alcohol off my teeth
This day is gonna kill me

Cause I’m a little bit wrecked
Yeah I’m a little bit wrecked

Oh oh no it’s just 11am, gotta lay my head down again
Hide myself in that empty office on the floor behind the desk
Thursday night is the new Friday,
at least that’s what they try to say
But Friday is not Saturday when
I;ve got to get up in the morning
I’ve got to be at work by 9am
Got to be at work in the morning,
by 9am and I’m still totally fucking wrecked

Seems like out of nowhere I’m a heavy pour
I can’t seem to sip the way I did before
Well I can’t let myself do this to me anymore cause now
It’s the end of the day and I’m just crawling through my door

Cause I got a little bit wrecked
Yeah now I’m a little bit wrecked babe and I feel weak
I can’t see
I can’t
I can’t
I can’t
I can’t
I can’t oh oh no no nooooooooooooooooo
