Bio

The audience, most performers will concur, is the most important part of a live show. As a performing artist, it is a primary responsibility to keep the audience interested, intrigued, and entertained. This is something that Lauren never takes for granted. "I like to make the crowd laugh", says Lauren in a recent interview with herself. "When you can make people laugh, you connect with them; they will trust you a little more and listen a little closer to the music. And of course it's an easy way to make sure that they are having a good time, which is the ultimate goal."

Lauren stops at nothing to achieve that goal. Whether its a dance routine, a drinking game funded by her bar tab, dressing drag, or just a little stand up, Lauren is on a mission to be fearless both onstage, and with songwriting. "I don't like following rules, conventional structures," Lauren tells herself. "I like to feel the pulse of each song, let it lead its own life, damnit."

The songs benifit greatly from this approach, and the result is a truly unique sound that is hard to describe. Alternative pop (or alternate pop, as her dad likes to say) is the appointed genre, combining her influences of blues, jazz, latin, hip hop, rock, dance and pop. The best thing to do is just listen!

Although Lauren may come off as a good-time Charlie onstage, (it was recently suggested at a gig that she try her hand at professional comedy), she is a trained and serious musical contender. After a childhood full of music classes, Lauren attended Etobicoke School of the Arts for high school and the Harris Institute of the Arts (production and audio engineering) for college. She is currently studying voice with acclaimed instructor Orville Heyn, acting with holistic-guru Crescence Krueger, and dance through various classes. Her growth will be apparent on her first release, an EP due early this summer. Armed with her record and a new car, Lauren will work to take this release to the furthest stretches of Canada and the States. It is only a matter of time before Lauren has real people interviewing her, but then again, that wouldn't be so funny.
