LAUREN GUILLERY & THE CLAWS

BandRockAlternative

A kick-ass rock band, no less!

Biography

One girl, two boys, a couple of guitars and a solid drumkit is what LAUREN GUILLERY & THE CLAWS are made out of.

With a fiery guitar sound reminiscent of early 90’s grunge era, chunky bass lines and steadfast drumming, LAUREN GUILLERY & THE CLAWS not only offer angry pop with an odd slice of blues and angel-like vocals; the songs are catchy & quirky and the live performances delivered with such intensity, rawness & arse-kicking, that french-born front woman Lauren Guillery has been compared to a 'rock queen' and 'rock goddess' by gig promoters and punters alike.

The trio consisting of the Rev. Dante Black on bass, Paddy Claw on drums and Lauren Guillery on guitar/vocals play together since July 2007 and have so far survived crowd-surfings, stage invasions, an award ceremony (where Lauren received the 'Best International Act' at the inaugural Balcony TV Awards) and toured from Belfast to Cork and Dublin to Galway supporting acts such as Norwegian post-punks Ungdomskulen, ambient gods God Is An Astronaut and Choice Music Prize nominee Cathy Davey. They did their first TV appearance on RTE National Television filmed at the EuroCultured Festival.

LAUREN GUILLERY & THE CLAWS are currently in studio working on the follow-up to their first EP 'LISTEN!' which sold out in both Tower Records and Road Records.

Lyrics

Do You?

Written By: Lauren Guillery

You don’t know what you want to be
You don’t know what you want to be
Do you?

You don’t know where you want to go
You don’t know where you want to go
Do you?

In A Medley

Written By: Lauren Guillery

Monday morning everyone is in a rush
Julie Montrose lost the flame
That used to sparkle in her eyes
She drove her car without thinking
Forgot to stop at traffic lights
And in the turmoil of the crash
She lost sight of her mind

A very common disease it is to be
In a world that spins thoughts
In a medley
Memories haunt our dreams and overtake our minds
But it is the devil in our heads that get to drive us wild

Sunday evening everyone feels stuck in a rut
Lenny left home without his keys
Grabbed his suitcase with a lot of bravery
Dressed like mud he chases vampires
His belly hurts he has no desire

A very common disease it is to be
In a world that spins thoughts
In a medley
Memories haunt our dreams and overtake our minds
But it is the devil in our heads that get to drive us wild

We often seem to be loosing track
We become centered and uptight
We rarely venture and wave the sign
Or ask the way that leads towards the Kingdom of Light

State of Emergency

Written By: Lauren Guillery

Is it real or is it fiction
What is on television?
Our brothers dying where city skies lost
The count on explosions
Profit makers, greedy leaders
Witness before their eyes

How many lives will cease
Before we get to see the light
On this state of emergency

Six o’clock news make me dizzy
Who is the enemy?
Nine o’clock news
we turn a blind eye on reality
We become numb while our heroes and sons
Lose in bloodshed

How many lives will cease
Before we get to see the light
On this state of emergency

Soldiers burning schools and temples
Troops attacking innocent people
We buy our children plastic guns
We watch warplanes dropping bombs

How many lives will cease
Before we get to see the light
On this state of emergency
