Bio

Singer/songwriter Lauren Hunt has been stirring up the New York music scene with an intensely expressive voice and an abundant repertoire of soulful, exciting, sophisticated songs. These combined with rich, energetic live performances have placed this act in a caliber all her own.
Born and raised in the boogie down Bronx by a music loving family, Lauren developed an interest immediately. At 14, she was accepted into the highly selective, world renowned Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, and the Performing Arts (a.k.a. "the fame school.”) Her time there was spent honing her skills as a vocalist, musician, songwriter, and performer- singing on the stages of such distinguished venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Lincoln Center. After graduating, she teamed up with some of the New York area’s top musicians and began playing live in and around the city, packing top venues such as The Bitter End and The Cutting Room.
The original songs you will hear at Lauren’s live shows are melodic, well-crafted, hook-laden pieces, in the vein of her folk, rock, and blues influences. She touches on a broad range of subjects from ideals, passion, and love to regret, disappointment, and frustration from many perspectives. When asked who has had the greatest influence on her music, Lauren replies "Jackson Browne for his lyrics, Carole King and Patti Griffin for their structuring of songs, Joni Mitchell for her vulnerability, her phrasing, her genius… her everything!"
Recently, Lauren was chosen by a committee of music industry professionals to perform in the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF)’s “New Writer’s Showcase” from among several hundred who submitted material. “She’s got it!” said Bob Leone, National Project Director of SHOF. In addition, she has performed for an audience of thousands at the NJ Ballooning Festival opening for STYX, sold out the Triad theatre on the Upper West Side, appeared “singing the weather” on the WB 11 Morning News with Linda Church, performed live with Spin Doctor's Chris Barron, has performed duets several times with singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw, and appeared on MTV discussing her songwriting with Gwen Stefani. Most recently, Lauren's "Lonely September" was nominated for Musiqtone's "Best Indie Song of the Year." And that’s just the beginning!
With all the right ingredients at hand, Lauren Hunt is cooking up a serving of real, fresh, meaningful music that the industry and listeners hunger for.
