BandR&BSoul

I would describe myself as a neo-soul vocalist/violinist. I've been studying music since age 8. I LIVE and breathe music. My style is similar to singer Erykah Badu. My music incorporates the violin along with my vocals and is upbeat with traces of reggae influence.

Biography

My name is Lauren Peterson and I’m an indie R&B/Neo-Soul violinist and vocalist born and raised in Washington D.C. At the age of 8, I was introduced to the violin while I was home-schooled and received classical training in vocal performance, violin, flute and piano. When I was 12, I was accepted into Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C. I auditioned for the violin, piano and flute and was accepted into all 3 programs, but chose the violin program. During my senior year of high school, I was introduced to jazz and joined a jazz band & the New Washingtonian Jazz orchestra. I’m currently studying the violin on a collegiate level. In 2011, I recorded and uploaded a youtube video covering Rap artist Drake’s “Trust Issues”, which was anonymously posted to WorldstarHipHop.com. My video has been seen by nearly 200,000 viewers. I aim to show the world that the violin can do so much more than classical and accompanied with vocals produce some of the most unique sounds.
