Lavern Stewart

Lavern Stewart a quiet pensive soul to the naked eye, but a creative melodious song bird to those who manage to penetrate her unassuming exterior. Born to pastoral parentage, this wonderful woman of God grew up in an atmosphere of praise worship and sacred songs. Her parents, the late Revs. Henry and Lavania Stewart, saw to it that their eleven children ate slept and breathe the gospel; which was ever present in the songs of Zion that filled their home.
While several of her siblings quickly found their niche in preaching the gospel Lavern found hers in singing the gospel at a very early age. At the age of 13, she emerged as one of her church’s leading soloists, with a genre ranging from sacred to soul music. In fact she has graced many concerts and recitals with her melodious soul stirring tunes.
She has already released two songs from her first contemporary album that is currently being recorded, with producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records, Nashville Tennessee. Yours is an upbeat worship song and the more traditional Near the Cross is arranged in a jazzy style with overtones of blues. Her two releases so far have been well received and she is looking forward to a successful album launch in early 2011.
