Lawrence Brown

I started playing music when I woke up one day 5 years ago and had no idea where my life was going. I was an athlete at Penn State and that's about all my life was. I realized how unhappy I felt and dropped out school, found my sister's guitar in her room, and just started to teach myself. I didn't know where it was leading me at the time, I just knew I loved playing music more than anything else. After only playing more than a couple months I started thinking about Juilliard, and Berklee College of Music. I've always been a dreamer, so despite what other people were telling me, I had my sights set on one of those two schools.

For two years straight I busted my ass night and day playing as much as 14 hours at a time. Some days I would get off work at 4 in the morning and play until 12 or 1 in the afternoon. I would often fall asleep playing guitar and wake up still playing my exercises for that day. Two years of lessons and a lot of ups and downs later and I was accepted into Berklee College of Music.

I left Boston and Berklee in the fall of 2010 and proceeded to come back to my home town of State College, PA, and finish the degree I had started at Penn State 5 years earlier. About a month ago, for the first time in my life, I had the courage to start writing songs. I've written at least a song every day for over 30 days now.

A lot has changed since I first left State College to explore the world, and figure myself out. What I'm writing now consists of all the things I've never been confident enough to say to anyone before in my life. For the first time ever I'm being honest about who and what I really am. My music marks the beginning of a big change for me and I sincerely hope you enjoy it!!
