"Beautiful Nightmare: Q&A with Laya LaRoché"

Straight from the slums of Shaolin comes a multi-talented artist that is carving a place in the music landscape’s uncharted territory. Singer-songwriter Laya LaRochè does not conform to the traditional mold of a soul singer. LaRochè’s brand of “Alternative R&B” exhibits spellbinding vocals and edgy lyrics which puts the Staten Island native in a class all her own.
After dropping 2012’s Let Them Eat Cake mixtape, Laya is back with the 10-track opus Seraphic Nightmare. Her first official debut LP is a stirring exploration into the subconscious of the Alley Cat Gang siren.

"Laya LaRoché Interview"

As a preface, I’ll say that the R&B game is quite funny sometimes. Things come in waves, which often leaves us with many artists who sound similar. Sometimes though, you bump into a singer that has it factor – a singer on his/her plain, that writes their music and commands your attention. Alicia Keys for example. Some singers just keep it real and lean on pure “skills” as opposed to auto tune and commercial influence.

Now, I’ve been known to get obsessed with tracks on SoundCloud, and last week I lived up my reputation. While cruising for some unsigned hype, I came across New York-based singer Laya LaRoche. Her song No Gravity off of her debut album (she has two) Let Them Eat Cake had me stuck. I decided to reach to and learn more about the songstress. - Above Average Hip-Hop

Still working on that hot first release.

Laya LaRoché is making a whirlwind of noise with her alternative sound and "Craft" inspired Spice Girl look.  The Staten Island, NY native exhibits a sound all her own, and a rather "fuck it" attitude, showing off her wide vocal range and 90s influence while mixing melodic vocals with heavy & whimsically dark beats.  Her edgy yet poetic lyrical content separates her from your run of the mill female R&B singer.
