Concierto expandido de pop experimental y performance colectivo.
Utilizando el sonido del espacio y unas cuantas docenas de objetos sonoros e instrumentos musicales se generaran ciudades canción. El recital opera como un micro-taller en donde de manera armónica se va construyendo una banda musical con el público en donde el espectador, el artista y el espacio dialogan pasiva y activamente.
Lázaro Valiente
Performer, músico, videasta, escritor y explorador del espacio público. Uno de los artistas contemporáneos más activos de la escena cultural de México. En 2011, fue el único mexicano en formar parte de la lista de los 150 artistas más representativos en arte de transmisión, desde 1920 hasta la actualidad, del libro de PAJ Transmission arts: artists and airwaves, por su pieza CUARTETO DE PATRULLAS. Un concierto público que dio utilizando 4 patrullas mexicanas desde el Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Ha expuesto su trabajo en galerías y espacios como el Museo Carrillo Gil, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wilfredo Lam en Cuba, el Museo del Barrio en NY,etc..
Ha tocado en festivales musicales como COACHELLA, LOLLAPALOOZA, SXSW, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS Y VIVE LATINO con bandas como devendra banhart, calle 13, cold war kids, entre otros.
Uno de sus trabajos más representativos es "La Isla Bonita (pop as an island)", película ensayo-documenta, objeto de papel y disco pop que muestra su trabajo musical, así como la estética que acompaña su obra como artista visual. - MISCELANEA
A Mexico, nous avons aussi filmé Lazaro Valiente . C’est un pote de Devendra Banhart, un mec qui improvise des concerts avec des klaxons de voiture de police dans des commissariats, qui joue du sèche-cheveux, du transistor ou du canard en plastique comme d’autres jouent du piano. Un mec un peu frappé qui a appelé son chien Lazaro Valiente… mais qui est aussi capable d’écrire des folk-songs troublantes.
Nous l’avons filmé chez lui, après une préparation minutieuse et l’installation mémorable (et interminable) de plusieurs dizaines d’instruments et autres objets a priori peu destinés à produire de la musique. Les morceaux ont duré entre huit et vingt-cinq minutes. François a cru devenir fou, Art a enregistré plus de deux heures de rushes et il lui faudra vraisemblablement des années pour rendre ce Concert à Emporter présentable.

Lázaro Valiente es un artista con algunas dosis de locura… un día puede dar un concierto con sirenas en plena calle y al otro presentarse en Coachella junto a Calle 13.
Puede realizar un concierto con organilleros en el Zócalo o de plano ponerse a vender su obra en el lobby de algún evento importante.
Es un artista multidisciplinario en plena búsqueda creativa. Mientras plática con El Economista, Lázaro Valiente habla con la gente que se acerca por la curiosidad de conocerlo y escucharlo.
El nuevo trabajo de Lázaro Valiente se llama La Isla Bonita y es un cine-ensayo documental que retrata un viaje a Brasil donde fue componiendo un disco pero, claro, es un artista y no se conformó con sólo hacer música.
También realizó conciertos, los grabó, hizo un documental de su viaje y toda la producción, ¿el disco? acabo siendo un no disco… sino una obra/objeto.
“Es una obra artística, va más allá de ser un simple CD… es una pieza que invita a construir y es algo único”, agregó Mauricio Pastrana, su nombre real.
“Todo lo hago yo. Compuse, filmé, produje… es una obra totalmente independiente”, explicó el artista, mientras su inseparable perro (Lázaro) merodea su obra de arte.
La música de Valiente es inclasificable pero se pasea por el pop, el bossanova, el rock y los sonidos que se le ocurran. Mientras que las imágenes invitan a descubrir (o tratar) lo que tiene en la cabeza el artista.
“En el disco tengo invitados como Gilberto Gil o Natalia Lafourcade pero al final es un trabajo experimental que la gente debe de interpretar y sobre todo jugar… no es un disco, es una obra para construir”, explicó el artista con sus grandes lentes, cabello largo y tirantes a los hombros.
Además de artista, Valiente es un trotamundos y regularmente anda por diferentes países, en sus calles, museos y donde pueda para comunicar sus ideas a la gente.
Lázaro Valiente se presentará en mayo en la UNAM. Tal vez, algún día se lo encuentre en alguna esquina vendiendo su nueva obra y será una oportunidad que no debe dejar pasar. - EL ECONOMISTA (newspaper)

Lázaro Valiente is a musician and sound artist based in Mexico City. He describes his first band as a collection of everyday objects from home, including children’s toys, a hair dryer and other electrical devices, plus guitars, xylophones, voices and water. Lázaro Valiente has played live on public transport, made musical interventions in other kinds of public spaces by incorporating the sounds found there, as well as appearing at international music festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and SXSW. Police Car Quartet, a small scale symphony of sirens developed in collaboration with the Mexico City Police Department, is the first of a series of musical happenings dealing with the control of traffic in public space – others to include Tamal-Car Orchestra, muchos Mexican barrel organs, and visual concerts at red lights, along with a sequence of public radio interventions. Police Car Quartet was performed as a concert at Mexico City’s Bellas Artes Palace, and was the subject of a recent artist talk by Valiente at Flux Factory, called How To Make Music With Police Cars and Get Away With It.

Mauricio Pastrana (AKA Lázaro Valiente) started as a drummer at the age of 10.He developed this technique using Rock n Roll as a medium.After studying-strange but true- Business Administration, he decided to do sound, art and music with anything or everything at reach.He created his band out of electronic home devices, a hair dryer, toys, water, xylophone, guitars, and about 20 other elements that he orchestrates on his own, live.Gave a concert with 4 police cars last year, does public interventions using the sounds of the streets and has played Coachella, Lollapalooza, ACL and SXSW next to great bands such as Cold War Kids and Devendra Banhart.His first album recorded in Brazil will be out soon where he mixes his songs with Brazil`s everyday sound and has special guests aboard. Lázaro Valientes music is composed by sounds and silence originated by being caught-up in the daily improvisations of life.
It has a rhythmic background and the memory of melody but all of this
is overthrown by any/all possibility of sound production and its
distortion and arrangement by both of my hands, feet,mouth and body.
From experimental-made folk to music made by police cars as
instruments where a gentle voice guided by live radio signals and a
blow dryer create, next to dozens of percussion toys, a simple
sing-along song.
(No need to mention the harmony of chaos,water, xilophones and
acoustic guitars).
