Bio

The Solo work of previous Burn Thee Insects frontman and multi-instrumentalist Lucust French, his music is heavy, unrelenting and yet pop minded and incredibly accessible. Pulling inspiration from drug and alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, stalking, being a bum, and getting beat up and knocked out ; As well as personal achievement, optimism, and hope.

With influences like Early QOTSA, Nirvana, Red Fang, Devil Makes Three, and Operator Generator. Imagine The story telling of The Devil Makes Three in front of the music of a Qotsa-Nirvana love child.

In 2015, Lucust and his father Mitch (collectively Burn Thee Insects) drove to California from Arizona to record what would become Droid Intelligence. Garage demos from 2010-2013 were brought to life by the hands of producer and engineer Chris Hughes, and Twin Earth Label founder, Ric Bennett would later catch wind and help release the debut. After playing a few shows and touring, Lucust and his father ended up parting ways and Lucust moved to Phoenix.

Lazer Beam picks up right where Droid Intelligence left off and thrusts on the afterburners, finding itself in a whole new dimension. A dimension with a hooky chorus, quick witted riffs, and backwards lead playing. Songs that have a point to be made. After jamming around Phoenix for a little over a year, Lucust had accumulated enough material for a new record and had the itch to record.

Lucust French and Engineer and Producer Chris Hughes (Burn Thee Insects, KOOK, Phantom Hound) found their way out to Tempe, Arizona to record Take Me Home, the first song released by Lazer Beam. Finding oasis at FiveThirteen Recording in Tempe, Lucust played nearly every instrument on the track including drums, bass, guitar, moog, and vocals.

The sizzling fuzz over the guitars and overdriven bass integrate with a dance inspired boy meets bad girl story.

Head bangers will be as happy as those looking to dance.
