"Lazorbeek Review"

At a recent gig Lazorbeek had the pleasure of being recorded by WMPG dj, Isaac Shainblum. Issac is the host of a local portland music show, "the locals", and can be heard on sundays mornings from 10:30 - Noon on FM 90.9 and 104.1. Issac reviewed the show and this is what he had to say.

"While "out and about" on a recording assignment for Cookin' Carols "Gala Celebration" on her farm, I had a very pleasant surprise ...sometimes persistance pays...after a very "damp" day of rolling T-storms, and then relocating all our gear into Carol's barn, I stayed on long into the night to capture Jimmy and the Soul Cats amazing performance ...which literally knocked your socks off !

but that wasn't even the "pleasant surprise".... it was the last act of the evening, (after just about everyone else had cleared out, but for what appeared to be a few of the band's die-hard fans... (and a puzzled, but contented looking cow or two still munching away in the feeding "troughs"...) A local Portland band, "LazorBeek", set up and just about knocked me over with their unique sound ! Multi-intstrumental and backed by a beautifully "silky voiced" young woman, this band sort of reminded me of the psychedelic "Fillmore days " , ... while still virtually impossible to actually "pigeon hole" their genre or style, other than to say they quite possibly may have "reinvented the wheel " so to speak ! ..is it a melding of fusion Jazz, broadsiding their gleaming tour bus w/ Jerry Garcias' "wonder band" from heaven?... possibly!!&nb sp; You must do whatever it takes to catch these fine lads (and lass) in your fav. local watering hole soon! ...before they disapppear into assured stardom!" - wmpg

Bio

Formed in November of 2007, Lazorbeek is a 6 member outfit combining elements of classic 70's heavy rock, traditional pop, ambient interludes, indie noise, and psychedelic improvisation. The band consists of lead guitarist Scott Young, Vocalist Christine Allen, Guitarist Mark MacDonald, Drummer Michael Lord, Bassist Keith McBride, and Percussionist Shawn "Stash" Littlefield. The influences are endless ( black sabbath, dead meadow, phish, pink floyd, whitesnake, heart, moe., ect.. ) and you will be hard pressed to place this band in any one genre. The complete essence of the music cannot be fully understood until it is seen live and organic. We are 6 very different individuals who combine our talents to produce new and exiting music played by breathing humans on 3 dimensional instruments, in real time. Lazorbeek's goal is to provide improve music that breaks the mold and stands by itself, true heavy roots rock that can morph into anything at anytime.
