"Community Leaders"

L&B Positive Rappers, one of Columbus' newest and most popular young rap groups, has set themselves apart from other rapprs with their strictly positive raps. During the past year, the young rapperers, aged 10, 12 and 15, have performed at schools, festivals, churches, talent showcases, open houses, and many other youth and community events. The group was selected to participate in the CAPA (Columbus Association for the Performing Arts Central Ohio) 2004 Tour.
Nathan Lewis, a talented high school sophomore is L&B's senior rapper. He plays the bass guitar and often colloborates on their beats. In addition, he enjoys playing football and baseball.
At age 12, Dominic Lewis is the newest member of L&B Positive Rappers. This seventh grader maintains a 3.5 grade point average. He enjoys art and spinning records and has recently begun taking saxophone lessons.

"L&B Positive Rappers make audience"

Blessed with outstanding musical talent at a young age, members of L&B Positive Rappers took home $200 and First Place honors in the youth category at the 2003 Village of Opportunity Entertainment and Talent Showcase on July 26.
The group performed "Yo, Listen Up!," an original Black History rap which earned 145 votes from the panel of judges, who were entertainment professionals. The display of talent by L&B Positive Rappers garnered more votes than any act in the showcase.
With raps about Martin Luther King Jr. and non-violence to their credit, the trio is working on a gospel rap and is headed to the studio to record a demo CD.
The group also won the first place prize at the Dodge Recreation center Spring Talent show, have been featured at various community festivals, including Juneteenth. They have also performed at churches and open Mics around the city.

"Young & Trendy,"

When other young rappers are rapping about partying, girls and boys, or pretending to be big ballers in training, these three young men are rapping a message of self-love and respect. With rap lyrics about non-violence, Martin Luther King, being free from slavry mentally and physically, L&B Positive Rappers are most definitely Young and Trendy.
They were First place winners of the youth category 2003 First Annual Village of Opportunity Talent Showcase where I was one of the judges. I had the pleasure to see and hear first hand what these fellows had to say. Not only were they cute as buttons, they also had some words for the young and the old about being Black and proud of it.
"Yo Listen Up!" an original Black History rap, tells of Black history from the beginning to the present. The tight beats combined with meaningful lyrics was very refreshing and I found myself tapping my feet and clapping my hands.
The group also won first prize at the Dodge Recreation Center Spring Talent show, and have been featured at various other community festivals and other events. I would be willing to bet that you have not heard the last of the L&B Positive Rappers. If you ever have the opportunity to catch these guys in action, you owe it to yourself to do so.
