Why this name? LDajai (pronounced el-dajay) comes from Leslie Derine (LD) and Laurie Jean (LJ); put together to make a word, representing the Christ centered unity that both Laurie and Leslie have with each other.
Band History:
Laurie and Leslie had sung for many years prior to joining voices in 1996; when they did it was as if they had always sung together. Their voices blended perfectly. Although the two joined voices singing secular music; GOD had a different plan that was not yet foreseen.
Seizing the opportunity, God separated Laurie and Leslie for a few years. During that time, God created two spiritual warriors by allowing both ladies to establish a personal relationship with Christ. Gods plan was fulfilled when he reunited Laurie and Leslie and set them on a soul saving mission in 2004. The two signed with a local independent label, Sound Lab Entertainment, where they were promoted as solo artist assisting each other with background vocals on many songs.
In 2007 Gods plan became clear. Singing solo still was not the mission set forth. Laurie and Leslie quickly joined forces winning more souls for Christ as a group (LDajai). God also provided music production from Leslie's husband LeSean (MottonLava) Motton and graphic design from Laurie's husband Brian (B-Nada) Leverette.
The mission is still moving forward. The ladies and their husbands are currently active members in their church homes, serving in many ministries. Laurie has been featured on songs with artist such as; Gods Child, GODSON and Anita Symone to name a few. Laurie was also nominated as Solo Artist of the Year by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) out of NYC in 2005.
Leslie has been featured on songs with Michael Fugitt, Gods Child and Anita Symone as well. Leslie was interviewed on Family Life TV, which aired out of Western PA in 2005.
Together, Laurie and Leslie have both been featured on the nationally televised show SINGSATION and were featured artist at the Blessings Music Fest in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Today, Laurie and Leslie are ready to walk in there calling, being positive role models to those they encounter; while utilizing their gifts to glorify their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
