"Naybesa “Twinterviews” L.Hammond + ‘Faded And Famous’ Download"

Another dope mixtape means another Naybesa “Twinerview,” this time around I tweeted with local 206/253 artist L.Hammond. Ever since I started listening to L.Hammond’s music I’ve noticed he raps a lot about “greatness” and what it means to be “greatness.” Personally, his confidant rap style is actually what attracted me to L.Hammond’s music.

In the Twinerview below I get L.Hammond to tell me who he is, how he plans on changing the game, what makes his music “greatness,” and more. Check out the transcript and screenshots below!

Naybesa: For starts, I want to thank you for being my 3rd Mixtape “Twinerview!”

LDotHammond: 3rd times a charm, so thanks for making that happen.

Naybesa: Anytime! So let’s get right to the project, in your newest EP ‘Faded And Famous’ you said “I’m L.Hammond, I’m the man, so who the f*ck are you?” For those that don’t know, who is L.Hammond?

LDotHammond: L.Hammond is a cool ass 23yr old BLACK man! that wants to make a difference in the world with hip-hop and rap music.

Naybesa: I feel like everyone says they want to make a difference. What kind of difference do you plan on making?

LDotHammond: The only way I can think of making a difference in the world with hiphop is going outside of hiphop.Im currently working on a degree in business administration, so my plan is to show ppl outside of this culture were not all crooks, it’s all good…lol.. but still keeping that attitude and substance the same just evolved.

Thats funny, I didnt know everyone says that. Great minds must think alike.

Naybesa: THAT’S WHAT’S UP!!! So it’s safe to say you’re not just an artist but a business man.

LDotHammond: Exactly, you have to learn money before you earn money otherwise you’ll lose money.

Naybesa: Agreed!

Do you consider yourself as an under rated artist? Either in the 206/253 or in general.

LDotHammond: Nah I wouldnt say that, I just look at it as I gotta earn everything. It makes me stronger.

Naybesa: Fair enough.

You Rap about “greatness” a lot in your music. What do you truly consider as “greatness” and what makes your music “greatness?”

LDotHammond: My flow and word play is on another level plus my beat selection is dope, so that’s why my music is so great and I’m only getting better.

Naybesa: What was your main inspiration behind this projects?

LDotHammond: My everyday thoughts and activity and Pj on the track beats.

Naybesa: When it comes to your next project, are there any local artist you have your eye on to work with?

LDotHammond: I’m down to work whoevers down to put in work, but have mad respect for all the artist from here moving.

Naybesa: Should we expect any new videos from the ‘Faded and Famous‘ project anytime soon?

LDotHammond: Yeah be on the look out for “WhatYouNeed” all the interludes might get done plus more sick sixteens.

Naybesa: ’What You Need’ is one of my favs so I’m happy to hear its getting a video.

Lastly what are 2 things you want people to walk away with after they finish listening to this project?

LDotHammond: I want them to think this is a dope ass mixtape and that this is someone who I can see holding the tourch for the years to come.

How’d you feel about the project?

Naybesa: I thought it was dope! I think your music has a little something for everyone from “Twerk,” to “#FeelTheReal” I love projects that aren’t just one noted.

LDotHammond: Thank you, I’m glad you get it, because not everyone understands the “Faded&Famous” mind state.

Naybesa: I honestly think that’s what makes you different. Not everyone will understand it but they have to admit its “greatness.”

LDotHammond: Yeah and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

"L.HAMMOND “WHY THEY HATING” [VIDEO]"

Standing tall, steady with a calm demeanor Lamar “L. Hammond” has been gaining the attention of audiences in Seattle, Tacoma, and beyond since 2005.

Born in St. Louis, MO to a single mother in the military, L. Hammond, the oldest of three moved across the country most of his life. Upon moving to Connecticut, L.Hammond remembers recognizing music as his passion. Moving often particularly during elementary and middle school, L.Hammond was able to use music as a constant. Finally, it is here in South Seattle via Tacoma that L. Hammond has found his home.

Noting influences such as Jay-Z, Dipset, Jadakiss, Lil’Wayne, and Young Jeezy L.Hammond not only understands the equation to creating a crowd pleaser, but delivers his style with the ease of a seasoned veteran. L.Hammond translates that same demeanor to the stage capturing audience attention with high energy and personable delivery.

Beginning first by creating Mixtape Monster Volumes 1, 2, and 3, L. Hammond was asked to be a guest at DJ Hyphen’s Sunday night Sound Session summer of 2007. Next, L.Hammond created a double-disc mix-tape “The Mixtape” under the entertainment group Faded and Famous that Hammond is also a member of. It is with this album that L.Hammond, began his start to success.

Crediting his rising success to not only to the “The Mixtape” with Faded and Famous but also the “Super Fresh/ I’m Getting Paid” videos directed for him by BoldView Entertainment, L. Hammond has performed at dozens of locations in the Seattle/Tacoma area. - www.supremereaction.com

"L Hammond – Silence Of The Lames"

L Hammond has been banging out mixtapes for a few years now and while was a solid start he seems to be getting to the point where playtime is over. Since releasing his last mixtape about a year plus ago he has been building his buzz from Tacoma to Seattle and in the Northwest in general. With a onslaught of videos provided by in house video team Boldview Productions it has been a steady buildup to his latest release “Silence Of The Lames”. The plus to this project is you get to hear Hammond over some original production supplied by beat makers like Bean One, PJ On The Track, M-Status, Bravestar and Diamond Style Productions. Seems like the practice of mixtapes over the years has allowed him to come into his own when supplied proper production but you also get a few jacked tracks in which Hammond remixes things with his own renditions. At this point L Hammond sounds polished enough to start working on a completely original project, lets hope that’s the case.

"VIDEO: L. Hammond - Light Up/Get Em Dot"

Ok back to the music.

Next Wednesday (11/2) at Nectar Lounge I'll be performing at the Hip Hop Heals benefit concert for Treehouse, a local organization that supports NW foster kids (the show's being organized by the one and only Maria Harris. On the bill with me are some Sea Town acts I'm very familiar with, namely BAYB, GMK, Sean Symphony, & The Good Sin, and one that I've somehow been sleeping on. But I just got a wake up call:

L. Hammond comes with two songs back to back, the first over the Drake/Jay collabo "Light Up", and the second beat I don't recognize (someone school me if I'm sleepin again!) but both sound tight, and L. shows strong flow and interesting concept and lines. At least as impressive, however, is the video itself. The light up portion has a time lapse shot of the Seattle skyline from the west while the sun sets, and video of the rapper superimposed on a portion of the brick wall in the foreground. During verse two he's rapping in the middle of a lecture hall while students rush around him in fast forward. Very interesting. In the second song, "Get Em Dot", he raps under a staircase with red caution tape in front of him. Only two shots happen in this portion, but Hammond is shown in double, with a second version of himself appearing as a translucent specter.

The video was shot and edited by BoldView Entertainment, check em out on Twitter and Youtube, and I see they will also be providing video services for the Hip Hop Heals show next Wednesday. - LukeRain.Blogspot.com

"Tonight in Music: Richard Thompson, GMK, Luke Rain, L. Hammond, Sean Herndon"

Richard Thompson
(Neptune) Richard Thompson is a great songwriter, having authored a body of songs that will be well regarded for as long as people have ears. (Personal favorites: "Jet Plane in a Rocking Chair," "Walking on a Wire," and "When I Get to the Border.") But the reason to see Richard Thompson live is his amazing guitar playing, which has always communicated more powerfully and eloquently than the man's prosaic singing voice. If previous stops on this tour are any indication, he'll play a first set of his newest stuff and return with a set of favorite classics. DAVID SCHMADER

Hip Hop Heals Benefit Concert (Treehouse for Foster Kids): GMK, Luke Rain, L. Hammond, Sean Herndon
(Nectar) Three things about the talented rapper GMK: One, he is currently based in Seattle and working on several projects, one of which is an EP with his partner Royce the Choice. Two, he can be seen as a postmodern (in a hiphop sense—hiphop's classical period is 1979–1984; modern period, 1985–1997; and postmodern period, 1998–present) version of Kwamé (Kwamé the Boy Genius), a modern-moment rapper who had a thing for polka dots. GMK's polka dots is the state of being brilly, or brilliant. Three, GMK's Songs for Bloggers, which was dropped in the important year (for local hiphop, that is) of 2009, is a local classic and, in my opinion, did for Seattle what Styles of Beyond's 2000 Fold did for LA. Fold expressed the spirit of LA's economy: Hollywood cinema. Bloggers expressed the spirit of Seattle's economy: computers. CHARLES MUDEDE

"L.Hammond: Hammond Files Webisode 2 “Wenatchee” [video]"

If your in the 206/253 area and you have good music [that I like of course] then you most deff have my support in any way I can give it, and L.Hammond falls right in that category.

So I didnt post up the first “Webisode” of the Hammond files so here’s a link to it, but in the mean time since your already here you might as well watch Hammond Files Webisode 2 “Wenatchee” right .

If your unfamiliar with L.Hammond’s Webisode’s your probably wondering what the hell there all about. Well:

Hammond files are webisodes dedicated to follow the progression of L.Hammond’s music career from beginning to end. For episode 2, L.Hammond opened for N2Deep in Wenatchee, Wa at club Level. May 7th, 2011. [Source]

Personally I like these, one you get to know a side of Hammond thats not just him spitting on the mic, and two its fun to watch an artist rise to the top and see all the steps they took to get there. But then again I am a softy for getting to know the person behind the music.

Check out some still shots I took from the video….

"MIXTAPE DOWNLOAD: L.Hammond – ‘Silence Of The Lames’"

L.Hammond ‘Motivation (LMix)’

If you have been following my Besa Radio post for my boy L.Hammond [who also reps the 206/253] then you know that he had a mixtape drop today called Silence Of The Lames. I just oh so happened to be on Facebook last night when I seen L.Hammond post a link for the download so yall know I had to give the link to you all.

MUST LISTENS OFF THE MIXTAPE:

L.Hammond ft M-Status ‘Last Call’

The first song that came on and automatically made me think club banner is ‘Last Call’ (Feat. M-Status). The song is simply about what the title says the “last call”, he tells a story of a night in the club, were talks about, dancing, and even a girl lifting up her skirt which is normal for the Seattle area. Basically, when it was time for the “last call”, they had to decide if they were going to keep the party going at his place, and well I’m pretty sure you know how the song ends.

L.Hammond ‘Ass On The Floor (LMix)’

L.Hammond takes over the Diddy Dirty Money Ass On The Floor song by adding his own personal swag to it… I think I might like this version better to be honest.

Of course there are more songs on the mixtape that I like but I cant be putting the whole mixtape up, you gotta download it for your self

"Introducing: L. Hammond"

It is after a few more times it is here in South Seattle via Tacoma that L.

Beginning first by creating Mixtape Monster Volumes 1, 2, and 3. L.

Crediting his rising success to not only to the “The Mixtape” with Faded and Famous but also the “Super Fresh/ I’m Getting Paid” videos directed for him by Bold View Entertainment, L. Hammond has performed at nearly a dozen locations in the Seattle/Tacoma area, including for Mike Jones in Yakima, Too Short, August 2010

Bio

In 2005, Lamar (LDot) Hammond began commanding the attention of hip hop fans in the Northwest, most recently expanding his fan base to the greater West & East Coast regions.

L.Hammond, who is the oldest sibling of three, was born in St. Louis, MO to a single mother in the military on September 25, 1989. He was no exception to the “typical” military life as his family was often moving across the country, particularly during his elementary and middle school days. It didn’t take long for him to recognize his passion for music. When L.Hammond could finally declare a home front, he found himself sitting comfortably in the largest city of the Northwestern United States: Seattle, WA. It was here that he would begin his journey to becoming one of the most prolific, lyrical, hard-working, and dedicated rappers in the Northwest.

Jay-Z, Dipset, Jadakiss, Lil’Wayne, and Young Jeezy are just some of the popular artists that influence LDot's work. L Dot understands exactly what it takes to appeal to a crowd. With his high energy and personable delivery, he is able to perform his work with the same ease as a seasoned veteran.

L.Hammond first began to rap with a Hip Hop group called "C2C". "C2C" or "Coast 2 Coast" was a collection of young men, who all knew each other from their families being in the military. And with each member being from a different part of the United States, thus came the name "C2C." After the group went their separate ways, L.Hammond began his solo career by releasing a series of Mixtapes called "The Mixtape Monster Volumes 1, 2, and 3."

After these releases, in the summer of 2007, L.Hammond was asked to make a guest appearance at DJ Hyphen’s Sunday Night Sound Session. Dj Hyphen was impressed in particular with two of L.Hammond songs called "We Gone Make It" and "You Can't Hide," which were played on Seattle's biggest Hip Hop radio station Kube 93 for two months. But this was just the start to his up and coming fan base. His next work of art, “Faded & Famous: The Mixtape,” was released under one of Seattle’s most notorious entertainment company, Faded and Famous Entertainment, which L.Hammond is also a member of. It was with this mixtape that L Dot began to build a big buzz locally and nationally.

L.Hammond continued his journey to be recognized locally as one of Seattle's top MCs with the release of his 2010 and 2011 projects "The Mixtape" and "Silence of the Lames." "Silence of the Lames" one of L Dot's more popular mixtapes, was described by local Seattle blogger Dr.Clones as "an instant west coast classic."

L Dot continues to book and perform at dozens of locations in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area as well as the Northwest region. He has opened up for major hip hop artist like Mike Jones, Too $hort, Dorrough, and Chingy. L.Hammond credits his rising success to not only the hard work and dedication he puts into his music and his company Faded & Famous Entertainment, but to his ever growing fan base which now extends all over the world.
