Bio
Playing classic and contemporary Rock better than people twice their age, LEAD ROSES is an exciting and energetic group of young musicians which performs covers of over 30 Rock tunes and has just self-released their original song Once Again (play it and check the lyrics from Audio link on this EPK). LEAD ROSES has previously appeared at a wide variety of events and venues including Louisville's Hard Rock Cafe, Fourth Street Live, Kingfish, Wick's Pizza, Kingpin Lanes, The Kentucky State Fair (Young Adult Project, Battle of The Bands), The J-Town Gaslight Festival, The River Crossing Festival, The Harvest Homecoming Festival, and LHC/BSA's Centennial Jamboree (performing for a crowd of 12,000 people) as well as at numerous private parties and events.
THE MEMBERS OF LEAD ROSES
Readily recognizable by his short-spiked hair on stage, LEAD ROSES Lead Vocalist Scott ODonnell (16) began his interest in music playing the piano at his Grandmothers house when he was only 2 years old. He started formal keyboard lessons when he was 6, and has played the keys ever since. Scotts interests in singing began when he started vocal lessons in 2005. Scott has further developed his vocal talents, with the help of his current live performance coach, vocalist, Marilyn Kington, to a level well beyond his years. Scott has performed in a Band and/or singing or playing solo for over nine years, appearing at over 120 events at a wide variety of venues throughout the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. Recently he was a finalist in the "East End Idol" competition at Wick's Pizza. Scott has been a Vocalist with LEAD ROSES since joining the Band in 2008. He also plays trumpet in his high schools award-winning marching band. In addition to his musical interests Scott enjoys tinkering with computers and cars, playing video games, and camping.
His dramatic black hair gives Drummer Dakota Fields (15) the look of a classic Rock performer. Born in Oklahoma City, Dakota developed an interest in the drums early in his childhood. Dakota likely got that interest from his maternal Grandfather, a long-time drummer who gave Dakota a set of custom Pearl drums as a 15th birthday present. Playing with LEAD ROSES Dakota uses that custom set of drums (with the trademark two flower LEAD ROSES logo on the front of the kick) to create an incredible beat that drives all of the Band's performances. Dakota also sings backup on some songs and the lead on the Band's incredible cover of Cat Scratch Fever.
His big smile makes Lead Guitarist Marshall Lanning (15) a distinct stage presence at live LEAD ROSES shows. Marshall joined LEAD ROSES playing bass in 2009 and switched to Lead Guitar in early 2010. While he has only been playing the guitar for three years, Marshall is an incredible all-around musician. In addition to guitar, Marshall also plays bass, drums, and keys. Marshall has an extensive collection of guitars, including numerous Les Paul and Ibanez models. However, his favorite guitar is his recently acquired triple-pickup PRS. Depending on the venue Marshall plugs his guitar into either a 120 watt Crate or a 100 watt Marshall amp to make sure his fabulous solos can always be heard.
Immediately recognizable by his aw shucks smile and beautiful style of play on his Cherryburst Epiphone Les Paul Guitar, Rhythm Guitarist Ben Austin (16) has been with LEAD ROSES since it started in 2008. Ben plays through either a Line 6/Bronger modeling/tube amp at smaller shows or a classic 100 watt Sunn Beta Lead/Acoustic 4X12 half-stack at larger venues. Ben has a sound and style which both matches and contrasts perfectly against Marshall on the leadyou can hear a good example of this in LEAD ROSES' live performance of Kyrptonite.
The latest addition to LEAD ROSES is Bassist Jake Hakel (15). Born and raised in the Ville, Jake has shown musical interest since pre-school. Jake burst onto the rock scene 1 year ago after watching his first Moms Music Rock School performance at Hard Rock Café. Jake wanted to master the electric guitar, but soon discovered a demand for Bass players. He was able to quickly adapt his skills to the Bass (a red, 4-string Yamaha RBX-170) and played in 3 different Moms Music bands. He was then able to connect with the local favorite, LEAD ROSES. Jake is ready to meet the Tall expectations of this established band. Jake is also hooking up with other local singer/song writers for side projects while in between gigs with LEAD ROSES.
LEAD ROSES' SOUND SYSTEM
In addition to its multi-talented Members LEAD ROSES also has it's own sound system and experienced sound man. LEAD ROSES has a full set of mics, speakers, power-amps, and related stage gear sufficient to bring a LEAD ROSES show to any small to mid-size venue if there is not a house sound system available.
