Lyrics

Blue Skies

Written By: Leah Magner

Take my life when you go
I don't want it anymore
And I won't shed a tear
I'm starting clean over
When you walk out that door
There's nothin' but blue skies from here

Chorus:
When the rain comes
I won't feel a thing
I've got nothing left to fear (and nothing left to lose)
And when the wind comes howling at my back, you can hear me sing
Nothing but blue skies from here

I won't remember you
And I won't remember me
My head is set on clear
Ain't never gonna look back
I'm on cruise control
Nothing but a smooth ride from here

Chorus:
When the rain comes
I won't feel a thing
I've got nothing left to fear (and nothing left to lose)
And when the wind comes howling at my back, you can hear me sing
Nothing but blue skies from here

Bridge:
So I might be a little bit drunk, now
It takes away the edge
But it must be a mighty sharp edge
Because I feel like this a lot
I ain't got no reason too complain
Unless I think too much
'Cause I don't feel anymore pain, no
The moon's shinin' on me, yes it is

Chorus:
When the rain comes
I won't feel a thing
I've got nothing left to fear (and nothing left to lose)
And when the wind comes howling at my back, you can hear me sing
Nothing but blue skies from here

Old Judah

Written By: Leah Magner

Old Judah gonna light a fire again
light a fire under your seat
Old Judah gonna light a fire again
gonna bring you to your feet

Old Judah kickin' up the dust again
up the dust under your soles
Old Juday kickin' up the dust again
He's a headin' off down the road

Old Judah going to save the world again
Save the world with just one book
Old Judah going to save the world again
He sees the Devil everywhere he looks

Old Judah preachin' to the choir again
to the choir while they are praying
Old Judah preachin' to the choir again
and they never hear a word he's sayin'

They don't listen, oh Judah
Old Judah preachin' to the choir again and they never hear a word he's sayin'

Old Judah tuckin' in his tail again, standin' by the fire alone
Looking to the heavens fallin' on his knees...prayin' "Lord come carry me home"

'Cause I am Judah....take me home
I am Judah....take me home
I am Judah....Lord take me home
Looking to the heavens fallin' on his knees...prayin' "Lord come carry me home"

Just a Man

Written By: Leah Magner

Standing in the doorway of a cinder block motel room
Flashing sign says you can pay by the hour
She took his wallet and his bag and his weekly trashy rag
Left him there to feel her power

Chorus:
And the leaves change color
Skin is gray
The air turns cool,
That's the price you pay
For moving on
When did it change,
I lost the upper hand
Now, I'm just a man

Love is cruel
You always have to learn too much about yourself
Could you take a break-up, must you make up, jealousy could shake you or will play the fool
But can you just wish her well.....no

Chorus

Bridge:
King me for a day
Give me one second chance to prove to you what I can do
Before you go, I want you to know
I'm almost there

Comfort Me

Written By: Leah Magner

I was born in rising water
that came to claim my mother's soul
She left to me, her only daughter
A history, 'twas never told

My daddy trudged up dusky mountains
to clear his conscience of his wrongs
His sacrifices, he was counting on
to build a ladder to his immortal home

Chorus:
Comfort me, comfort me
I'm waiting here, comfort me

My husband's arms are full of roses
that prick my skin and hold me fast
Unyielding love, he imposes
To quench desires of mine that long have past

Chorus:
Comfort me, comfort me
I'm waiting here, comfort me
Wrap me up, pull me near
I'm waiting here, comfort me

Bridge:
Will you be there when I need you?
Will you come when I call?

My babe was born in rising water
that knocks upon her mother's door
But my spirit will not falter
until I've seen her safely to the shore

Chorus:
Comfort me, comfort me
I'm waiting here, comfort me
Wrap me up, pull me near
I'm waiting here, comfort me

Grew Up Too Soon

Written By: Leah Magner

Skipping stones with my boy
Saturday morning
Now, I'm no kid, but sometimes
Grown-ups are so boring
I'd rather build a hideout way up in the trees
Dig a moat around the bottom
Nothing could get me.

Chorus:
I wanna ride on a roller coaster
Fly in a balloon
Cover all my walls with posters
Wake up with cartoons
Take a ship into the sky and dance across the moon
I guess I grew up way too soon.

Skipping work with my boy
Monday morning
Now, I'm no kid, but sometimes
Meetings are so boring
I'd rather dig a hole straight to
the China Sea
Search a cave and catch a dragon
In time for New Year's Eve

Chorus

Bridge:
Aching backs and carpal tunnel or
Ferris wheels and sugared funnel cakes
Ringing phones and high-heeled shoes or
Cops and robbers. Which ones do you choose?
I choose......

Chorus
