"Gallery Talk"

Allie Griffin Art Gallery: ..."Many visitors from all across Saskatchewan visited the art gallery, and were very impressed and appreciative of the local talents of musician-volunteer Leah Rebrinsky."
(This quote was taken from our local paper, discussing events from the 2004 Saskatchewan Summer Games. I was able to volunteer to play piano and sing for visitors and athletes during the games.) - Weyburn This Week/Weyburn Review

Bio

I am a 22 year old piano teacher, vocal coach, choral accompanist, and song writer.
I took 12 years of piano lessons, including 7 in the Royal Conservatory of Canada programs. When I was younger, I was able to attend some jazz band music camps (studying under pianist Paul Read of Toronto, trumpeter Chase Sanborn of Toronto, and singer/bassist Kristin Korb of Los Angeles). During the school-year, I played piano, trumpet, and trombone in jazz band, and played French horn in concert band (received Outstanding Brass award). I was also involved with a few different choirs while in high school (becoming the lead alto, and receiving the Choir Excellence award).
I began writing songs when I was about nine years old and have continued to adapt and mature my writing style as I’ve gotten older. My musical influences were always people around me and the musicians that I thought were real, genuine people as well as amazing song writers (such as Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, Diana Krall, Buffy St. Marie, Joni Mitchell, Jen Lane, Mandy Moore, Jack Semple, etc.).
Last summer, I took part in the Cathedral Village Arts Festival Songwriter's Competition in Regina and received 2nd place; and took part in auditions for the Forget Summer Arts Festival, and was accepted to play and sing, opening for the "Jack Semple Band". Later, I was contacted to direct and produce the music for a summer musical "Pirates of the Living Sky's" (a musical written for Saskatchewan) to take place in Weyburn (however, due to time restraints was not able to). I was able to work with and coach a contestant to the top 100 of Canadian Idol last season (Jayej Finney), and have worked with one of CMT’s 2009 Karaoke Star jr. finalists, Tenille Arts.
Currently, I am working with various vocal and piano students, as well as recording different groups around the Weyburn area. I have just finished working with our local High school, accompanying the school’s various choirs, and am now looking forward to performing at some summer music festivals around Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
If you wonder what sets me apart from everyone else- it will always be my love for what I am playing and singing, and wanting to share that love with others!
