"LeaLea Jones support gig with Eliza Dolittle review"

"New girl crush LeaLea Jones also preformed sporting some serious attitude and a set of lungs to match. Through a combination of her fresh, unique sound and her sassy personality she managed to capture audiences for the whole of her set. Described by radio veteran Ras Kwame as “one to watch”, she definitely impressed after performing a seven song set embellished with spontaneous scats and guitar solos." - Urban Development

"All The Qualities Of A Star: LeaLea Jones"

LeaLea Jones has been a name who has been within music since she was a teenager, has released singles as a feature artist and has performed to some big names within music; politics; etc. So it baffles me that this artist still isn’t as well known, considering she deserves so much more success within music and has delivered music that just sounds so fresh and unique, something we definitely need in music at present, especially when everything is sounding so similar at the moment.

Below is a song you can listen to, which should definitely give you a little more insight into this very talented artist. - Music Blogger

"BBC Radio DJ - LeaLea Jones"

Last year I discovered a very talented unsigned singer from Hackney, London called LeaLea Jones. It was a track called 'Oh My' which caught my attention at first because of its smoothed out, Neo Soul with a twist of independent Hip Hop that got me open. Since then I've been chatting with Lea to find out her future plans and she's hoping to drop her debut album sometime this year. Of course I'll be supporting her all the way as I believe in her talent! Below is the latest track she's sent me called 'Cake'. This track has a whole lot of potential. - BBC

"Waxin’ Lyrical on… LeaLea Jones"

I’ve been meaning to write something about LeaLea Jones since she more than impressed when warming up for Kinny way back when in February.

It wasn’t one specific thing about her which stood out, more a mixture of many things all coming together in a package that reminds me I should never give up on the UK Urban scene. Just as I was near total disillusionment with the UK R&B/Hip-Hop scene as it continued to turn into a caricature of itself then came the pleasant surprise of LeaLea Jones.

It was R&B; plain and simple. Good song-writing over solid beats with a sprinkling of hip-hop. No over-production, no needless 80s synths, no autotune, no ‘crossover’ attempt, no hyper-sexualisation, no contrived lyrics… it was just R&B; and I have not heard it as honest as that for a while. The UK has a fantastic array of female soul singers (some of the best in the world), however we seem to struggle when it comes to female R&B singers, rhythm and blues in that Aaliyah, Amerie, Mary J. mould. LeaLea Jones gave some real glimpses of that during her short set… (head over to her myspace and check out Oh My and Keep on Tryin’ both big tunes!).

She recorded a Maida Vale session the day after the Luminaire gig, which means she is getting some well deserved attention and she is one that is going to keep on getting better with time. I jhope as she develops the powers that be will let her continue to make pure and honest R&B music because the charts and the radio stations (and I) really need it.

En Vogue, Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child, Mary J., never made cross-over records. They crossed R&B over in to the mainstream by making great music, and I hopw LeaLea Jones can do the same… fingers crossed!

Bio

Singer/Songwriter, Lealea Jones has been a recognisable face on the music scene since her teens. She formally released singles as a feature artist under producers Ok_Ma via the UK Based BBE Label, home to some of the artists that influenced her music, J Dilla and Jazzy Jeff.

Through a combination of her fresh, unique sound and her sassy personality she has managed to capture audiences worldwide from the smaller intimate performances - Ronnie Scotts, Jazz Café - to the larger stages of the famous Sonar Festival (Barcelona), The London Jazz Festival, SoundWave Fest (Croatia) and The World Economic Forum (Switzerland). Audiences at these events include, The Queen of Jordon, Bono from U2, Peter Gabriel as well as the founders of Google, Youtube and Facebook. It’s at the World Economic Forum that she met a friend who later showed her musical work to President Obama who thought “she rocked!”
This songstress from Hackney has already shared the stage with international selling artists including Jay Z, Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Root Manuva, Bonobo, and Little Dragon.

With the love and appreciation for creativity, LeaLea Jones wanted to expand her ability in music to other artistic avenues. This is where the start of music production house, Cherry Fair began with writer friend Kim Garrett back in January 2009.
Since establishing Cherry Fair, LeaLea has successfully released music and negotiated a distribution deal with Sony Vidzone. She has released her own music as well as written for established acts and record labels such as, Domu, Tru Thoughts Records, Ninja Tunes, BBE Records, Rihanna, (Def Jam). In late 2010 LeaLea landed a major contract to write a piece of music for the Head and Shoulders (P&G) advert which is currently being shown worldwide.
She has also gone on to become a BBC Introducing artist, recording songs from her upcoming album at the famous Maida Vale studios with her live band. Through this LeaLea received heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1xtra.

LeaLea is currently putting finishing touches to her debut album, currently being mixed and mastered at Abbey Rd studios, which set to be released early 2012.
