Leanne Kean

I am a 19 year old singer songwriter from Torbay, Newfoundland! Music is my ultimate passion. I enjoy singing it, writing it, playing it, (on both the piano and guitar!) My goal in life is to become a successful singer songwriter and pursue a career as a professional international recording artist some day. As a singer, I consider myself versatile with a diverse repertoire of power-pop, contemporary country, jazzy blues, soul, acoustic and alternative rock. I feel my music with passion and emotion. It is theraputic to me, and a find it to be a great form of therapy in expressing myself. My music is inspired by a combination of my family, friends, my own life experiences, and things people can relate to. I am a frequent performer in Newfoundland's local music scene performing at many gigs, fundraisers, festivals, hockey games, tv & radio specials, weddings, local compilations, private functions and local show productions! In 2004 I represented NL in Vancouver in a National Youth Talent Search. The following year I won a Teen Open Mic contest at O'Reilly's Pub and was later showcased in the Canadian Showcase For Talent in Toronto. I also made the top 44 round in Canadian Idol season 4 when I was 16, and in June 2006 I won the Newfoundland Teen Karaoke Idol Contest, which I co-hosted in the province the following year. Part of the prize for that competition was to record a cd which was released independently across Newfoundland in 2007! I also play in a local band called "Caught In The Act" with 3 other guys. I am enjoying putting my passion for music into a team effort! Music is a universal language. It is something that will always be part of me.
