Lear

Lear

BandRockPop

LEAR are a dynamic guitar four piece from South Wales. The band’s ability as songwriters is impressive and ambitious. A combination of toe tapping, gut wrenching tunes and true Celtic passion. Their determination has helped them strike up a partnership with Frontline Studios, home of Lost Prophets.

Biography

LEAR linked up together in January 2000 in Blackwood, South Wales. They spent the remainder of that year jamming, rehearsing and developing a set that soon had people talking.

Lear's true environment is playing live and once the boys started gigging and word got around, their fan-base just grew. So much so that Lear managed to get the highest ever attendance at the Barfly, London on one steaming summer's night in 2001!

Other honours include winning the Welsh final of the National Music Show's 'Undiscovered Originals' at Wembley (followed by a storming gig at The Verge in Camden) and being voted Best Live Act at The Path, itself voted best live venue in Scotland.

Lear have headlined one of the BBC Radio One 'Soundcity' gigs and have subsequently been featured on BBC Radio One Wales as well as commercial radio. They have also appeared on BBC One Wales and MTV.

Some of the best gigs Lear have enjoyed have been supporting fellow musicians including Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets), Dodgy and Bernard Butler. And tours of Scotland, Liverpool and Manchester have earned the boys recognition countrywide.

Lear are currently recording a new EP with Manchester's RF Records. Keep an eye on their website www.learworld.co.uk for details.

Lyrics

Love Psychotic

Written By: Lear

It's a comic tail of a cosmic night
A starless sky and a moonless flight
As black as coal as cool as stone
A struggle I must face alone

Until our paths can cross
And loves gain is no ones loss

So I'll hide away so I'm not seen
By the mindless few with hearts so mean
As to deny our destiny
So here I'll lie until you're next to me

I'm racked with hope
That you’re fine
And you can cope

But I can't wait forever
One day I'm going to crack

In undergrowth and underground
I've seen you bare but I made no sound
Psychotic thoughts are hard to beat
But things wound change
If only I could meet you

Somewhere alone
No words, gagged with no phone

I can't wait forever
One day I'm going to crack
No I can't wait forever
And you're never going back

Your bodyguard and body double
Chastise me for causing trouble
But feels that I can't suppress
And reasoning's that are meaningless

But I can't wait forever
One day I'm going to crack
No I can't wait forever
No they'll never have you back
your never going back

Funny

Written By: Lear

Isn't it funny
When your friend say
We didn't call round
'cos we thought you'd be o.k.
isn't funny
when your head strong
and your thinking of a memory
of days long gone

Isn't it funny when they say
I'd hate myself to be this way
But they don't call round
Isn't it funny

Isn't it funny
How life turns
You find yourself reliving
All those lessons
Never learnt
You say you need a lover for a friend
Your praying that those days would never end

Isn't it funny when they say
I'd hate myself to be this way
But they don't call round
Isn't it funny

Your in my head
And in my heart
So I can't let go for long
So isn't it funny

Isn't it funny
When your friends say
We didn't call round
'cos we thought you'd be o.k.
We know that your there
At the end of a phone
But we didn't realise
You where stuck in at home

Isn't it funny when they say
I'd hate myself to be this way
But they don't call round
Isn't it funny

Jackie and Julie

Written By: Lear

Jackie and Julie were lovers
In our new clear age
Taking home lap dancing money
And leaving behind testosterone rage

They had a friendship
A love if you call it
But we find reasons to
Despise and deplore it
They didn't hate men
Just didn't need them
A sense of wonder
Can drag you under

Don't you ever stop
Don't stop, killing me
Don't you ever stop
Don't stop

Jackie and Julie got married
They said we made them
Do what they had to do
Boys back home
'Well you're the same gender
but that's ok 'cos you've
found something tender'

Don't you ever stop
Don't stop, killing me
Don't you ever stop
Don't stop

And she said
I don't want to wake up
If it means that I can't see your face
I want to wake each morning
And find you in your rightful place
The world will always drag us down
But as long as I have you around
Don't ever want to stop you
Killing me

Don't you ever stop
Don't stop, killing me
Don't you ever stop
Don't stop

Don't you ever stop.
