Om Mani Padme Hum

Buddhists know this is the mantra of Boddhisatva Avalokiteshvara. The Buddha of compassion. On a journey to Tibet Edwin (the founder of Leave) came up with the album title "In The Palm Of My Hand". It relates to the Buddha of compassion who has a thousand arm with eyes in the hand: to see all the pain in the world. Handreaders also know that looking in the palm of a hand tells about ones life. And that's what this album will be about. It tells about the things happening in a man's life.

The goal is to get the album financed through the Sell A Band initiative. A platform where fans of Leave can buy a part (share) which will give them the cd when it is recorded. Leave is gradually growing a fanbase and playing more and more through out the country.

How it started:

November 27th (2005) showcased the first gig of vocalist/guitarist Edwin van der Hoeven at a The Haque pub called Lokaal Vredebreuk, 7 years after Edwin split with the symphonic folk band Septysed. Those years were used to create new songs and, more important, to travel a lot. New ideas grew and after a name was found it was time to get on stage. The adventure starts when you Leave.

April 06 Edwin met with Maarten via drummer, Robin, who left the band 3 months later. Until October 7th when Edwin got a message from Ruben saying he was interested in playing drums with Leave. After some auditions the three all noticed the chemistry flowing between them had lots of potential.

With this setup the music grow from a singer songwriter Americana style to a more mature sound. Combining acoustic oriented songs with progressive textures derived from jazz and triphop. Styles brought in by both Maarten and Ruben. The songs became musically more challenging while remaining hit-potential.

2007 promises a good year for Leave after receiving very good critics on their first shows with the band. Edwin is still performing solo but the majority of shows is with the band.
