"Big sound big song"

Big Sound Big Song
The guitars jump right into your ears as soon as this one starts. Then is joined by a very passionate and emotinal lead vocal that is very original and warm! I think your to blame for writting such a kickin Tune! The lyrics are very relatable too, and I enjoyed the flow to the melody had me singing! Heading for the top!

"Musart hosts free concert in Deep Cove"

Niki Hope (Nhope@nsnews.com)
Singer-songwriter Lee Lindsey is happy to be back in Canada after years of living and playing music in London.
"People are happier here and more free," Lindsey says from her North Vancouver home. "I wanted to move somewhere that the kind of music I did was more conducive to the audience."
Canuck concert-goers are generally more encouraging than their British counterparts, says Lindsey.
Her folk-country sound, complete with melancholy lyrics about love, loss and hard living, didn't go over with the same fervour as the saccharine pop tunes English audiences love, Lindsey says. So she decided to come back to North America where audiences appreciate her organic sound and rich harmonies.
Born in Ottawa, Lindsey left home at 15 to get away from a troubled relationship with her father. By 17, she was modeling in Toronto and eventually New York and abroad. While the statuesque blonde was posing for catalogues and making commercials, she was also writing songs.
When her first marriage to an Englishman crumbled, Lindsey - now with two kids - started to focus on music as a career.
She went to Nashville to work as a writer, and ended up performing.
Back in England she met Jingles, a musician who played bass with Howard Jones in '80s. Together they run Tall Poppy Records, which is releasing Lindsey's second album.
The couple and Lindsey's two teenaged children decided to move to the North Shore when they were here on a holiday two years ago.
They've built a recording studio in their home near the Seymour River and Lindsey is busy trying to get her CD finished before her release party on Sept. 29 at the Bush Hall in London.
For those who can't make that gig, Lindsey and her five-piece acoustic band, which includes her partner Jingles (a producer and one-time professional skateboarder), are playing a free concert at Cates Park, along with Dust Radio and Exithiside, on Saturday, from 4 to 7 p.m. The show is meant to highlight artists who've donated their music to the Musart Cultural Society's CD compilation, Cates For Cancer. The two discs feature songs by local artists, with all of the proceeds going to the BC Cancer Foundation, and will be available at the show or at Deep Cove Music.

Bio

Dreaming It – Never, Living It - Forever…

Lee Lindsey has written songs her whole life. Like most artists, her music tells the story of her life. However, unlike most people who grow up, Lee never abandoned her childhood dream.

Lee’s life begins on the Ottawa River in Canada. She’s traveled, modeled and performed around the world from Toronto to Hamburg, New York to Paris, Nashville to London and back again. She left home at fifteen with a guitar on her back and a dream in her heart. Above the Madding Crowd is a realization of that dream; a collection of her songs inspired by the diverse, emotional terrain of a woman discovering her talent, her voice and her identity as an artist. The recording of the album was an arduous task but the hard work and determination produced exactly the results she was looking for.

"It was a difficult record for me to make," says Lee. "It took a long time to finish and the experience turned my house, my relationships and my self-confidence inside out. The recording process really pushed my buttons. It made me have to face issues within myself and start a completely separate healing process.”

Produced by session wizard and musical director, Jingles (Gabrielle, BB Mak), Above The Madding Crowd features varying degrees of folk, country and roots rock with soulful, Celtic string arrangements. The title track, which references the famous Hardy novel, takes the audience on a journey and tells the universal tale of small-town girl with big dreams and a permanent will.

In addition to her recording and performing activities Lindsey started the London, UK division of Tall Poppy Records, an urban roots and folk rock label, with producer/engineer Jack Guy (INXS, All Saints, Sugababes). That same year, she also started her first publishing arm, Songhearts Music, and began a weekly series of showcases to benefit the London independent music community called Tall Poppy Presents…Lee Lindsey and Friends. The night ran with great success and industry recognition for three and a half years and continues today with the “Best Of” series running at the prestigious Bush Hall. Having moved to Vancouver in 2004 Tall Poppy Records has expanded their brand of showcases to BC and soon to Alberta.

Above The Madding Crowd will be released in early 2007 and Lee Lindsey has big plans to take her show on the road with tentative tours planned for Europe in early 2007 followed by a West Coast tour of British Columbia this summer.
