Biography

Leesa Mackey's promotional tracks have already been warming up the radio airwaves of Montreal in preparation for the official release of her solo debut album "Leesa Mackey's Breakthrough" (coming February 2008). Leesa's sound has found appeal with a wide variety of audiences from commercial pop lovers, to reggae, dance, and hip-hop enthusiasts. She has developed a strong vocal style which is proudly represented in her recorded work and live performances. Since discovering and developing her vocal abilities in school choir, Leesa has been writing songs and working with other artists to further her music. In 2006 she independently released a CD by the name of "Tamashi Connect" with her live band. Just after completing the Tamashi album, Leesa met composer/producer Collin Sylex (Runway Sound) and began writing and recording the music which has become this next step in her artistic journey.

Leesa has been involved in many musical projects, events and recordings over the years. Recently, she has worked with a number of local stars, including a guest appearance in the Butta Babees video "Understand Yourself", and on Zed TV (CBC). She has also worked with Toronto based Black Pearl at North by North East, recorded and toured with Vancouver rapper Franchise, as well as performing with D.J Team Canada / Groundwerks in the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival - Whistler B.C 2005. Leesa also sings with Juno nominated Kali from Kali & Dub, and was touring this year with Jah Cutta & Determination for their Wha Gwan 2007 Canadian tour. While primarily a singer/songwriter, Leesa is also very active in the local film making community. She is an ACTRA member who has studied acting at the Montreal School of Performing Arts, and in 2004 attended the "Acadimie International Edith Serei" where she received a degree in Makeup Artistry Psychofigurism. Leesa continues to impress with her skills in music and beyond.
