Artist: Lee Striemer Album: The Songwriter Cometh When it comes to reggae infused pop, Lee Striemer is a musical genius. His album ?The Songwriter Cometh? is a very versatile piece of work that will hook all reggae style and pop lovers alike. In this album Striemer experiments with a handful of instruments from horn sections to different sounding keyboards. Striemer even incorporates electronic sequenced sounds that give a nice balance between acoustic and electronic elements. Track 1: The opening track from Striemer?s album ?The Songwriter Cometh? begins with a smooth bright sounding acoustic guitar, and less than a measure later, a crowd of cheers comes in to start off the song with vocals with a touch of reverb to give it a nice lively sound. The overall song has a nice island style rhythm that gives this slow tempo song a very upbeat feel. The catchiest part of the song is during the chorus when ?I believe in me, believe in you? comes in and just makes the listeners want to sing along. It even has the crowd in the recording want to clap to the beat. The song then closes out with a slight fade out making the listener want to hear more. Track 5: The fifth track displays a different side of Striemer that shows versatility as a musician. It begins with a downbeat hand drum and acoustic guitar. The song as a whole is a slower song compared to the other upbeat feeling songs because it?s a love song; a very catchy one at that. Track 10: The closing track was chosen perfectly to conclude the album. The lyrics in the chorus ?my home? gives the listener a refreshing experience. The song comes in with a steady beat surprising the listener, and the way Striemer transitions within the song are very smooth and easy to listen to. Final Thoughts: What is most respectable about Lee Striemer?s ?The Songwriter Cometh? is that he not only composed all these songs, but also recorded and produced them himself. When a musician steps out of his or her comfort zone to self produce a solo effort, it shows talent and dedication in one?s work. The way each song was mixed and panned, for example Striemer pans the guitars in the songs, it creates such an interesting color in the sound.
