Phoenix Rising

BandRockAlternative

Original hard rock with soul. Folk, blues, funk and metal influences blend with thoughtful lyrics to create something new, something fresh, something special.

Biography

Created in early 2001, LeftOver seeks to create fresh new music without abandoning the roots of rock. With the power writing duo of Jack Pollock and Tim Greiner, this band sets itself apart with their thought-provoking lyrics, talent, and expression. Couple that with a high-energy stage show reminiscent of the best in arena rock, and you have a band worth looking into.

Lyrics

It Ain't the Ritual

Written By: Tim Greiner

Every Sunday at half past 9
All the sinners get in line
Quietly they take the wine
Solemnly they keep in time

Your temple in a little box
Your tongue makes sound but never talks
You carefully reset the locks
And close your eyes to the paradox

It aint the ritual that’s gonna make you full
nothin in that cup is gonna fill you up
No candle’s bright enough when your heart’s cold and tough

Kneeling when the sun is high
You pull the wool over your eye
Convinced your bloody battle cry
A gleaming holy crown will buy

Preaching hate and breeding fear
Spitting on what He holds dear
Feel the engine shifting gear
See the angels drawing near

It aint the ritual that’s gonna make you full
nothin in that cup is gonna fill you up
No candle’s bright enough when your heart’s cold and tough

Just pour yourself out on the ground
Bare your heart to all around
Can’t be picked up if you don’t fall down
Now revel in the love you found

It aint the ritual that’s gonna make you full
Now from the mountain tops. The new way never stops
It aint the ritual. It aint the ritual
