"All Access Magazine"

Her energy is felt in every song. Full of life. There's no bitter taste, only Bitter Things.
Move over Britney, Leigh Silver is HOT and coming on fast.…

From the first song, titled “Everything,” this CD had my full attention. Hoping the rest
of the CD was packed with songs filled with as much energy as this one, I wasn't
disappointed! The lyrics stay clear, understandable, and are very well written.

"Summer Waves" makes me want to grab my surf board and head for the ocean! The
music is as well written as the lyrics. Pop, punk…it all rocks. And Leigh Silver &
Bitter Things have it all going on!

The one thing I truly respected this band for the most was that as good looking as
these girls are—and that alone could sell any CD 3 times over!—they choose NOT to
use any of their pictures on the CD. Good move girls: your music is great! And that
alone will take Leigh Silver & Bitter Things to their next level.

Every once in a while we get CDs in our mailbox that don’t fit in with the majority that land on our review desk. For one reason or another some albums simply stand out, but at the same time that makes it often hard to get a good grip on them. In this case however it was pretty easy to spot the quality on offer.
As you all can see the packaging is pretty awesome and the music follows suite. This female hottie-fronted band is a regular with the L.A. MTV/surf-generation as their music was chosen a couple of times for the “Surf Girls”-series. They serve up a combination of old-school Bangles & Runaways: easy listening rock with the kind of sexy vocals on top that keep certain places warm on cold days. This is the kind of band that has the ability to get really big overnight and it surprises me that they haven’t yet been spotted by one of the bigger record company suits. I guess it has something to do with the current musical climate.
Anyway, if there’s still an adventurous bone in your body, my advice to you is to check this out. It is in fact a very nice power pop album with cute-factor all the way to 10. And sometimes that’s all I need to get me through the day. (KVK) - www.rockreport.be

"Vegetarian Vocalist Leigh Silver Chats About Her Soft Spot for Baby Cows"

Leigh Silver is so adorable that you want to pick her up, swing her around, and give her a big hug … and then she’d kick your ass. This California girl might sing songs about fun and sun, like her hit song “Summer Waves” from MTV’s Surf Girls, but when it comes to fighting for animal rights, Leigh’s no lightweight. Read on to find out why she went vegetarian, what she likes about demos, and which PETA campaign she likes best.

“Hi. My name is Leigh, and I am the lead singer for a band called The Bitter Things. We are a rock-pop-punk-alt band, if you will, from Los Angeles. I would say it’s kinda like the Foo Fighters meets old-school No Doubt with a touch of Blink meets The Donnas. You can check it out at www.bitterthings.com. The other members of my band are Andrew, drums; Jake, guitars; and Cordell, bass. The band has been together since mid-2001, but this is a relatively new line-up with the addition of Jake. He is just a few months in, and Andrew … has been in the band for almost a year now. The new energy and feel is great. I am really enjoying the band right now. Highlights presently include getting play on MTV last summer on Surf Girls and Camp Jim, getting my first magazine cover last year, as well as beginning to get FM radio play and fan mail from all over the country. I am also excited because I recently shot a calendar. I’m gonna have my own calendar—that’s sooo cool.”

"Slam Rocks Rock Zine"

"Skratch Magazine"

LEIGH SILVER AND THE BITTER THINGS
SELF-TITLED
Three cheers for a chick who rocks. Leigh Silver herself is what really stands out on this debut EP. The album comes at you with some straight-up hard rock, very evident in tracks such as "Moody" and "Everything". Silver's vocals, however, are what teeter on that Gwen Stefani-type vibe, adding extra spice to the record. Don't analyze this as punk or emo or any other wacked-out type of genre; just see it is as rock 'n' roll, and you'll enjoy it all the more. - Darren Ratner

"Just heard a CD by newcomer Leigh Silver and are we ever impressed! She is like a mix of Avril Lavigne meets Joan Jett but definitely has her own sound and style. You can expect to hear more about this major musical talent."
-New Music Weekly, 1/23/04
"Leigh is just what Rock & Roll needs right now."
-Mike Galaxy/Band Promote.
"First of all. Let's get to the point.... Leigh Silver is a STAR.
It's that simple. Leigh Silver =RockStar"
-Todd Trash-Reject Records
Originally hailing from Philadelphia, Leigh spent her first few years in Los Angeles in Rock Star 101 as a main bartender at LA's premier rock breeding ground, the Troubadour. She is now a professional model.
She was not created by producers of a "reality" show, or assembled in a "Franken-Popstar" type laboratory in sunny Florida. She honed her craft on the mean streets of Philadelphia using a trial-by-fire regiment to develop her incredible voice, stage presence, and songwriting skills. Instead of aspiring for a slot on the Mickey Mouse Klub, she packed-up and moved to LA. Instead of singing live to a DAT,
she formed a kick-ass live band,
the Bitterthings.
Within a few shows, Hollywood was abuzz about the new-kid-in-town, and soon after she was working on a debut EP with the respected musical forces of Tommy Stinson, (Replacements, Guns n' Roses) Chris Vrenna, (Nine Inch Nails) John Dolmayan, (System of a Down) Mark Blasquez, (Line 6)and Bill Kennedy (9/01)
Since, she has co-written 26 songs with legendary producer/songwriter Kim Fowley and has also worked with Lucky 7, Shaun Kama (Damnation, Blood Junkies), and many others including vocals for the debut CD of the Line (Volcom).
