Lena Wilson

Lena Wilson, having started her talents for singing at the age of five, is a Vocalist, Singer, and Songwriter born in Gary, Indiana. Her vocal abilities were born in an elementary school music class, where a music teacher brought to her parents attention Lena’s above average singing potential. Her music teacher encouraged her parents to seek admission into Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts. It was from there her journey in vocal music began.

 After being accepted into the Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts, she excelled in vocal music, receiving first place for seven years in Indiana State School Music Association contests (ISSMA), performed in an enumerable amount of musicals, toured throughout the Midwest, and many showcases. Some notable performances include, performing with Jonathan Butler at the Star Plaza Theatre, Donny Osmond in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Chicago Theatre, as well as other musicals like “Oliver”, “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “The Wiz”, as Glinda the Good Witch, and  ”Grease”, as Sandra Dee.

After graduating from Emerson School of Performing Arts, Lena attended Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) where she studied classical music performance. It was at I.U. that Lena began to fine tune her vocal ability, styles, and teaching while learning to sing several other genres of music (including but not limited to Gospel, Christian, Classical, Formerly Composed, Spirituals, R&B, and Soul). Experiences included core singer of The I.U. Soul Revue, the African American Chorale Ensemble, and the women's Contemporary Gospel ensemble, “Sojourner”. This ensemble had the opportunity to perform with Ray Charles and tour the East Coast. Lena was also part of a singing group that opened for Vickie Winans and CeCe Winans in Indianapolis, IN. She also performed in a musical as the lead character Timoune in “Once On This Island”. 

Lena has taken over twenty years of private voice lessons while learning to sing many styles of music like, negro spirituals, arias, and recitatives. With specializations in vocal performance, voice overs, and vocal coaching inclusive of individuals and worship teams, Lena has also participated in many reputable contests, and notable industry auditions. Accolades include excelling to be one of the top in her category for "American Idol” and “Sundays Best”.

Alongside her husband and business partner, Dennis K. Wilson, she is recently Founder of Indie music label and recording studio, I.O.C Muziq LLC (Image of Christ). Lena also has founded a non-profit organization called the Image Corporation, which supports education and the arts.
