Bio

“I was 8 years old when it happened. A religious experience if you like. I discovered the music from the movie version of The Jungle Book. ‘The Bare Necessities’ triggered the dormant music addiction gene and I was off. You would find me most days of my childhood strumming a tennis racket ‘playing musician’. I grew up in a house full of music; from Ella Fitzgerald, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, to the Beatles and Van Morrison. Most importantly was the music of The Dubliners and The Chieftains-the sounds of my mother’s Irish native land and history. I also grew up travelling a great deal with my parents as they slowly moved across Canada in search of stable work and a place to settle. This coloured me with an appreciation for the real and sometimes desolate beauty of this country and that life is a long and winding road.”

This childhood was the seeds for a story teller and a gifted singer/songwriter. When you see Len Ottesen live you understand the impact that music has had on his soul and that he will do everything he can to give you a little piece of him. With an understanding of pop/rock sensibilities as well as a true empathy for many current socio-political issues, Len has crafted songs that balance folk inspired acoustic driven music with reflections on the joy and frustration of modern life. In the beautiful but cluttered landscape of new music, Len Ottesen wants us to have great music that is honest and creative, that burns inside your mind like it does within his.

He has been ‘cooking’, as he says, the last several years in a couple of bands and feels that his music and words are ready to stand on their own. With experience and industry praise from venerable record production veterans, a fantastic live show and a forth coming EP, ladies and gentlemen here he is, Len Ottesen.
