"Lenou « Any Given Day »"

« Genetically programmed…Lenou, daughter of a Greek musician and a singer without frontiers, Nana Mouskouri, wraps her warm voice around a first album in a British folk pop way. Drawing in turn on ballads, then more biting melodies, Lenou sings here of love, a little bit of hers, a lot of ours, of feelings that lift us but also of those that hurt… »

"Lenou « Any Given Day »"

« The vast catalogue of folk music continues to be combined in the feminine. Daughter of a famous glass-wearing Greek singer and of a guitarist, Lenou throws herself in the adventure of soft acoustic songs and delivers her debut album, Any Given Day, with grace and discretion from Mercury/Universal Music France. Four tracks in French, the rest in the language of Shakespeare. An entrance by a small door, awaiting to reach true acknowledgement… »

"Lenou « Any Given Day »"

« She has a country glam look and her voice becomes her style. Lenou, young newcomer, makes us think without hesitation of Dido with her musical style.
There are in this first album some beautiful songs, ballads, that take us travelling on horseback or on foot through unknown plains of America or Europe… We feel her appeal and charisma behind the voice… »

"Girl Power – this winter, girls attack and in every style."

« Daughter of Nana Mouskouri, Lenou risks herself in her mother’s footsteps ( after having spent years in theatre) as a disciple of peaceful folk-rock that suggests at the same time Buffy Sainte Marie, Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris (« My Songbird »).
Blessed with a voice of crystal, incredibly in tune, Lenou is also multi-lingual on this elegant first effort. To be continued.»

"Lenou « Any Given Day »"

«The daughter of Nana Mouskouri makes a discreet yet successful into the world of music. She will certainly not stop here. The album opens with Just Love Me, a Celtic sounding song that she co-wrote and co-composed, an invitation to be accepted as she is. Along the way, we discover her crystalline voice, very in tune, serving in turn ballads such as My Heart Goes Out To You or up tempo numbers like Now Or Never but always sticking to the folk spirit. More comfortable with the English pop, Lenou offers us nonetheless four songs in french, including the beautiful Tourne.»

"Nana Mouskouri at the Alte Oper"

"Lenou « Any Given Day »"

«…For her debut album, she(Lenou) takes us into her world with her warm and sensual voice, to tell us about love. From ballads (Just Love Me, that she co-wrote) to more up-tempo songs (True Colors), her music draws little by little a sensitive artist, inspired by British pop and also shows a strong taste for French variety. An album with tender words and beautiful feelings. »

"Nana Mouskouri - 40 years of singing in 3 hours"

« …The most striking moment was without a doubt when Nana Mouskrouri’s daughter Lenou stepped out of the shadow and into the light. Followed by her mother’s emotional and warm glance, Lenou abandoned her role as backup vocalist to show us that she has inherited her mother’s talent… »

"Lenou, the tender words"

« …Nana Mouskouri’s daughter has been born with the voice but has found her own path. Her mother began with jazz before opting for variety. Lenou chooses pop with a folk emphasis clearly influenced by Joan Baez or Joni Mitchell. Even if classic, her debut album (Any Given Day) is clearly justified since Lenou fills the space and manages to touch us, sometimes and charm us, often… »

Bio

In a few words…Lenou is a Swiss-Greek artist, daughter of worldwide sucessful recording artist Nana Mouskouri and reknowned guitarist-producer George Petsilas.

Lénou trained as an actor in London, where she co-founded the Compact Theater Company. Before attending her drama course, she spent one summer studying Shakespeare at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She then graduated from Arts Educational Schools 3-year intensive acting course, where she discovered she had a true voice.

Offered the opportunity to tour the world alongside her mother as backup vocalist, Lenou jumped at the chance to perfect her skills as an all-round artist. She toured extensively for six years, honing her vocal, performing & songwriting skills, throughout UK and Ireland, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Greece, Cyprus, Israël, Turkey, Morocco, Canada, USA and Australia.

After those years, she embarked on a solo career and soon landed a record deal, then released her debut album « ANY GIVEN DAY » (Mercury/ Universal France).

Following that initial success she recorded a duet with Laurent Voulzy, a cover of the Carpenter’s « Yesterday Once More » on the million-selling album « LA SEPTIEME VAGUE »(RCA) ; the song was also released as single N°2. This led to much touring with him.

Recently, she set out to produce a new album «COMING UNBROKEN», an in-depth reflection of her evolving artistry. She worked with 3 producers on the tracks - including artistic collaboration with Scott Greiner (who also mixed the album), Richard ‘Jack’ Guy and Chris Birkett.

Lenou sought to create a pop-acoustic blended atmosphere. The songs reflect a deep and organic mix of the cultural and musical melting pot influences that her Greek origins, English and Swiss education, French living have given her.

And when she is not busy producing & performing her own music, Lenou continues to put her acting skills to good use in recording voices for video games’ characters.

« Coming Unbroken » is ready to be heard throughout the world.
Come savor Lenou’s evolution.
