"Dark Road, Bright Horizons for Leo Melly"

FORT SMITH, AR, August 28, 2013 (Nu Eruh) – The roads have been dark and potholed his entire life, but now Leo Melly has found his solace in making a living doing what he loves. He has released his largest album, Red Face, which has high hopes of yielding an acceptable return on investment.

Born in Baton Rouge, LA, Leo Melly spent his early life in the outlying river parish of Ascension. He was born into a broken home of violence and drug abuse. His father was a notorious con artist addicted to crack cocaine. His mother struggled with coping in her relationship and eventually escaped to Little Rock, AR with Leo and his two sisters. It was here, after moving into the hood, that Leo was introduced into a thug lifestyle as he was hanging with a bad crowd of thugs at the young age of 14. After seeing the destruction of her son, Leo’s mother moved the family to Fort Smith, AR with her new boyfriend. The violence had already been instilled into Leo’s personality and that led to a struggle between the teenage thug and his new stepfather. Leo was sent on a bus ride back to Louisiana with his father and grandfather to finish high school. It was there that he found a love for Hip Hop and really came to explore alternate outlets for his aggression.

Following his exodus from high school he pursued a dream in music but was always sidetracked with living life (working and surviving). This struggle to survive on his own led him to travel to a number of different cities including Gainesville, FL, Fort Smith, AR, and Oklahoma City, OK. Each area in which he lived he would infiltrate the underground music scene with impressive lyrics and microphone savagery.

Leo was following dead-end jobs and eventually found that he was able to make equal money, sometimes more, by simply releasing music and selling CDs. Leo currently resides in Fort Smith, AR with his son. He is there selling his own CDs as a full time job; hustling street corners, strips, night clubs, and other music events, all while trying to solicit opportunities to perform his music in front of live audiences.

Leo Melly is a well developed artist with influences from all over the south. He can truly appeal to a wide range of listeners as his style and delivery is not bound to any certain area or demographic.

Kim Woods of 6 Strings Music Group says, “His [Leo Melly] music comes from real life experiences that his fans can relate to and his stage presence is full of energy, the interactions with his audience make his live show anything but boring.”

Leo has shocked audiences at every venue he performs and continues to amaze doubters. He has really been a self-made heavy weight in the underground hip hop game. With his new release Red Face he seems confident in acquiring a new collection of fans on a much larger national and international scale. - Press Kings
