Bio

Leonard Watkins is an accomplished acoustic blues performer, based near Birmingham, Al. Influenced by Son House, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, Leonard plays a passionate style of delta blues. Equipped with a 1932 National Steel guitar and Craftsman socket, he slaps and snaps the Blues. Leonard plays the blues with his own feel, believing that you can play another man's song but not another man's 'feel'. He plays intense raw delta blues to acoustic versions of Chicago blues. He'll throw in some lighted-hearted blues such as Blind Blake's 'Diddie Wah Diddie' or his own crowd favorite, 'I'm Your Wal-Mart Greeter'. Watkins has a natural dry sense of humor, listen carefully to his mutterings between songs, he'll put a smile on your face. Leonard is an entertainer and crowd pleaser.

Leonard has played at various festivals and events including the 1997 King Biscuit Festival in Helena Arkansas and the National Slide Guitar Festival in Brevard North Carolina, The 1998 & 1999 Sloss Furnace Birthday Blast in Birmingham and many others.
